Wolfenbuettel outscored Osnabruck on the road to force the decider. Osnabruck SC was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 17-8 charge of Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Estonian point guard Birgit Piibur (162-94) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Alli Gloyd (185-92, college: Arizona) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Nigerian guard Promise Amukamara (173-93, college: Arizona St.) produced 20 points and point guard Ramona Tews (172-92) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Osnabruck SC's coach Mario Zurkowski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.

Neuss held off Goettingen to even the series at 1-1. The hosts were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 21-16 Goettingen's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 72-63 at the end of the game. TG Neuss dominated on the defensive end, holding Goettingen to just 7 points in first quarter. American guard Deanna Weaver (180, college: Boise St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import guard Dara Taylor (173-91, college: Penn St.) contributed with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Trinidad and Tobago center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds and American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Goettingen. Four Goettingen players scored in double figures. Goettingen's coach Giannis Koukos tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.

Heidelberg knocked down Bad Hombur to sweep the series. The game without a history. BasCats Heidelberg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Homburger TG to just 7 points in third quarter. BasCats Heidelberg dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Homburger TG's 22. American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and center Viktoria Krell (183-85, college: Lindsey Wilson) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American forward Celia Marfone (183-94, college: Cal-Davis) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and her fellow American import point guard Elena Popkey (168-94, college: Oakland) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Don Bosco Bamberg made 20-of-21 charity shots (95.2 percent) during the game, while Ladybaskets Wuerzburg only scored four points from the stripe. American power forward Tori Waldner (196-93, college: Penn St.) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Estonian guard Liisi Sokman (166-88) supported her with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Don Bosco Bamberg players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by center Laura Zdravevska (185-97) did not help to save the game for Ladybaskets Wuerzburg. Canadian guard Stephanie Kleysen (178, college: Winnipeg) added 7 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win.

Wolfpack parts ways with Raus - 3 days ago
Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel announced on Saturday that Christian Raus won't be any longer the Headcoach. Raus' first year as headcoach of a womens team seemed not to work for both parties as they decided to part ways. Currently will take over Frank Lagerpusch, assisted by Ruediger Jacob until a new coach has been found. Jacob has assisted the past few years and knows the team. Under the new coaching duo the Wolfpack won their first game this Sunday against Bender Baskets Grunberg.   [read more]
