2017 German Tour Recap:

The 2017 German Tour wrapped up last week where the team finished a respectable 7-5 on the trip. The team formed of talented players from all over the United States that attended at least one of the Eurobasket Summer League camps. The team was filled with an assortment of guards and bigs ranging from high level D1 schools to small college players representing the NCAA D2, D3, and NAIA levels. Eurobasket Select was coached by Allen Mkrtychyan, a Russian born coach with coaching experiences at the collegiate and international National team levels. "This team had a lot of talent. Across the board. It is really difficult to put a team together with not one practice together and expect them to go out and beat pro level teams. Teams that have been working together for weeks. We had high standards for them and at the end of the tour I think each player should the ability to play somewhere for money," Coach Mkrtychyan said.

In this article you will find the full tour stats, game by game box scores, each full game video, brief write up for each player, and each player's tour highlight tape. All players are available. Any team looking to find more info on a player may contact Dustin Simcox at esl@eurobasket.com

Prusator, a 6'0 G who finished at Arkansas Tech also has D1 experience at Indiana State. He has a gun that can match just about any shooter. He tied the team lead with 7.2 apg/4o min, showing that he can his team involved while still being a threat himself. He is a sly defender who picks up 3/4 court making it difficult for any ballhandler. He secured 3 steals per game with most of them coming in the back court.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMgQAqIZWKI

Samuel, a 6'2 G from the British Virgin Islands is just a few documents shy of having his British passport. He is a very aggressive guard on both sides of the ball, notching at least 3 steals 4 of the 7 games he played in. On the offensive side he could get to the basket at will and distribute to his teammates as he too finished with the 7.2 apg/40 min. He also has a nice stroke from behind the arc and a one dribble pull up to counter each attack.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIPBkIX6Qkk

Bellinger, a 6'1 G that had previously signed with Maccabi Haifa prior to suffering an ACL tear 2 years ago. Showing that he is completely healthy while emerging as the emotional leader. The leadership and emotion he brings to the floor each night is such an intangible item to a team to go along with his ballhandling and shooting abilities. He had multiple double digit scoring efforts including a 9 point 4th quarter against Pro B Bochum in a comeback effort.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkJe1RhZgak

Butler, a 6'2 G was a walk on at SEC Mississippi State. Got the tour started off right with 2 steals and 2 dunks in the opening minutes. Showed his best work on the defensive end with a strong athletic frame. Made several key defensive stops in the overtime win against Salzkotten. He also showed the ability to knock down shots and be a threat getting to the basket off the bounce.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gey_4g07gpA&t=13s

Shaw, a 6'4 G that was also a walk on at a big ACC school. Continuous work against future NBA pros throughout his college career at Florida State prepped him well for this trip. He was the most consistent player day in day out on the offensive and defensive ends. Finished well at the rim, knocked down over 1.5 3ptFG/game, and nearly averaged a block per game at the guard position. He pushed through a 54 minute day playing two games on the same day.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gey_4g07gpA

Atwater, a 6'6 wing is a long-lanky player that would have the description of "3 and D" type of player. He was consistent option from behind the arc that never forced a bad shot and got to the basket when given the opportunity. He was our best guard in terms of getting our bigs touches on the block and relocating for his opportunity. His long frame allowed get a lot deflections guarding the 1-3 positions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU3ethQJNAc

Marshall, a 6'5 guard that can take many forms from his experience at Alvernia. He started at least one game at each of the 1-3 position spots. He lead the team in scoring with a variety of looks going to the basket and from behind the arc. He can be very successful given the opportunity to facilitate his looks and create for others. He went coast to coast in the final 7 seconds of the Dusseldorf game to make the game winner floater.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F0QkDJHcuU&t=16s

Burnett, a 6'5 wing from Columbus State Univ in Georgia showed his speed, quickness, and overall athleticism throughout the tour in the half court and in transition. It is extremely difficult to stop him 1on1 in any situation. He has great body control and strength to absorb contact finishing in traffic and has the ability to knock down jumpers anywhere from the 3pt to Mid range off the bounce. He has great intuition jumping the passing lanes on the defensive end to get easy buckets in transition.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3F_UIpRnsw

Gordon, a 6'8 forward from Cal Poly SLO. Great size, length, strength, and athleticism that allows him to perform both inside and out on both sides of the ball. He led the team in rebounds while securing a double-double against Pro B Iserlohn. He is a high energy guy that will finish strong at the rim, knock down open jump shots, and wreck havoc on the defensive end whether that be blocking shots at the rim or sacrificing his body while taking the charge. He was complete all-around player for us.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UccsU9heCc8&t=18s

Trisko, a 6'8 forward that averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds per game at Spalding College. He is a strong guy that is always making the right play. Whether that means making the right pass (led bigs in assists), making the right cut, being in solid rebounding position (offensively and defensively), or spacing the floor. On the offensive end he showed the capability of stretching the floor knocking down open 3s.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa63Y3ijZuc

Stotts, a 6'7 forward that has pro experience in Canada for Moncton had several highlight reel plays throughout the tour. He is sneaky athletic in transition and cutting to the basket as seen in his highlights. He has the ability to post up smaller 3 men and the ability to knock down 3s to stretch the floor against bigger 4s. He was second on the team in rebounding at 8 per game, while averaging 10 points a game as well. He was one of three players to secure a double-double during the tour (v Stade 16 pts, 11 reb).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FrfRucwlIs

Cochran, a 6'10 forward/center from Sonoma State in California had his tour cut short after 5 games to a broken nose. However, he made a good impression in his limited time with scoring out puts of 16,12, and 12 respectively against Vechta, Salzkotten, and Neustadt. He is a big that plays within himself with good fundamentals and great footwork. He has the athleticism to be able to play the 4 position at his size and rebounds well on both sides of the ball. He has been fully cleared for full contact playing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcjxR9iJics&t=3s

Bell, another 6'10 forward/center from Fort Valley State. He is a big body with a lot of strength. He can do a lot of good things on the floor on the offensive end. He frame makes him a tough cover when he is finishing hard at the rim. But he off sets the power game with a variety of quick hooks and 15-18 mid range jumper. He is strong the defensive boards and holds out his men well. Any team looking for a true big man that can finish inside and protect the paint will be happy with him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoeFT0uHVzg

Sears, a 6'11 forward that comes a continuous winning culture at Whitworth College. He has a high basketball IQ that allows him to analyze multiple facets of the game. He uses his size well on the defensive side of the ball to protect the rim. He led the team in blocks at 2 per game, while having several games with 3+. He has a methodical post game on the offensive end that allows him to get you where he wants and finish with a quick hook. He showed that he can knock down shots from 15 feet to the 3 pt line. He is another true big that can work on both ends.
