The Regular Season in Regionalliga just started. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team and favorites losing the games.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Salzkotten (0-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Grevenbroich (1-0) 97-89. They made 32-of-40 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Salzkotten only scored thirteen points from the stripe. 31 personal fouls committed by Salzkotten helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Gerrell Martin (190-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds. Croatian-Bosnian forward Marko Boksic (201-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Swingman Felix Wenningkamp (195-88) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists for Salzkotten. Salzkotten's coach Stefan Schettke rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Grevenbroich is looking forward to face Hagen-Haspe (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Salzkotten will play against Hagen BG (#2) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Another interesting game for Hertener Loewen (1-0) which played on the court of Bonn II (0-1). Hertener Loewen crushed hosts 81-54. American power forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Artem Shelukha chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward KJ Sherrill (203-91, college: Augusta) responded with 11 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hertener Loewen will play against Kamp-Lintfort (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Bonn II will play against Herford (#12) to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in Hagen between Hagen-Haspe and Duesseldorf. Hagen-Haspe (1-0) got a very close home victory over Duesseldorf (0-1).
