The Regular Season in DBBL just started.

First defeat of league's leader Fireballs (0-1) against TSV 1880 Wasserburg (1-0) 96-66 was the most important game of the last round. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-66. TSV 1880 Wasserburg looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Rebecca Tobin (195-88, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Lithuanian point guard Santa Okockyte (175-92) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Lindsay Sherbert (184, college: Gonzaga) answered with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Fireballs. Fireballs will play next round against strong Herner TC trying to make it back to the top of the standings. TSV 1880 Wasserburg will try to continue on its current victory against BasCats Heidelberg on the road.
TH Wohnbau Angels defeated ChemCats Chemnitz in Noerdlingen 82-64. Canadian forward Kim Pierre-Louis (183-93, college: Massachusetts) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Samantha Hill chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Swedish forward Abigail Asoro (183-93, college: Iowa Western CC) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds. ChemCats Chemnitz will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. TH Wohnbau Angels will try to continue on its current victory against TV Saarlouis Royals on the road.

Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gruner Stern Keltern will meet BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SV Halle Lions will play against Goettingen (#2) and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 1 winless Saarlouis lost to undefeated Herner on the road 68-75. Goettingen won against Heidelberg on its own court 74-60.

Halle - Keltern 66-78

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of SV Halle Lions (0-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Gruner Stern Keltern (1-0) 78-66. The game was mostly controlled by Gruner Stern Keltern. SV Halle Lions managed to win fourth quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international guard Stina Barnert (173-89) nailed 18 points and 6 assists for the winning side and Estonian forward Mailis Pokk (186-92) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Brittany Hrynko (173-93, college: De Paul, agency: LBM Management) came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Khadijah Shumpert (188-93, college: N.Mexico) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for SV Halle Lions in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gruner Stern Keltern will meet BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SV Halle Lions will play against Goettingen (#2) and hope to win that game.

Wolfpack parts ways with Raus - 2 days ago
Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel announced on Saturday that Christian Raus won't be any longer the Headcoach. Raus' first year as headcoach of a womens team seemed not to work for both parties as they decided to part ways. Currently will take over Frank Lagerpusch, assisted by Ruediger Jacob until a new coach has been found. Jacob has assisted the past few years and knows the team.
