Faros fired past Promitheas to sweep A2 Finals. The game was mostly controlled by Faros. Promitheas managed to win second period 28-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Faros outrebounded Promitheas 45-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Promitheas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 assists. Power forward Christos Petrodimopoulos (206-80) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Serbian swingman Vladimir Petrovic-Stergiou (199-77, agency: BeoExcell) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Angelos Tsamis (192-81) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for Promitheas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Promitheas' coach Makis Giatras rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. A2: Last week and the epilogue of the division - May 29, 2016
The championship traveled to Kymi (we knew that the last two weeks) and the second place went to the almighty and undefeated at all levels (until March) Faros Keratsiniou, the Greek Cup finalist, was once more the winner as Panerythraikos was not able to cope with the experienced players of Faros. Even though Panerythraikos was the team that first beat them (in their in between game for the first round), this time had no luck as the board show 89-63 and -26 teams for the Erythrea team. But, the surprise came for Doxa Lefkadas as the "islanders" lost everything in the last game of the league by losing the game against Psyhiko (whioch survived the division after all, and is remaining at A2) while Doxa Lefkadas lost their most crucial game of the season and in their home court. Psyhiko succeeded a great road win after beating the islanders with 72-77 and remain in the division after this heroic result, as the last month of the league Psyhiko was awesome!! The position in the play-offs for a place in A1 will be take by Pagrati (replacing Doxa Lefkadas) as it beat Pefkohori (which will be playing officially in the B' Division the coming season) with 83-74, grabbing the fourth position in the regular season and putting in theory their team as a candidate for the A1 through the play-offs which starting next week.
The victory over the set champions was celebrated by Promitheas Patras with 78-71 in a game which the visitors had no reason to play.. Iraklis which is also remained in the A2 division beat Mahites Doxa Pefkon with 73-66 while Doukas beat Peristeri 79-74 in a very tentative game.
