In the games of the 20th week of the Greek A1 league the results were not successful for the teams of Coaches Bartzokas and Fragias as both their teams lost their away games against Ikaros and Kavala respectively while in the other games we had the easy afternoons by Olympiakos and Panathinaikos who 'forgot' their European loses and came hard in the Greek league, while the dismantled team of Coach Linardos in another one game (this time without its four musketeers, Haritopoulos, Gagaloudis, Kommatos and Elegar) was too tough for AGOR who needed the fourth quarter to be able to beat the team of the seven amateur players and only due to Dionte Christmas (196-G-86, college: Temple) and Right's scoring capabilities did so. Lastly, in the final game (for most of PAOK's players) the team of Soulis Markopoulos beat PEristeri 74-70 very difficult and after an extraordinary try.
The games in more analysis were as follows:
Kavala - Kolossos Rodou 76-68 Quarters: 13-16, 34-31, 57-43, 76-68 With great performances by Taylor and Pacalic in the second half, the team of Coach Priftis beat the team of Kolossos Rodou in a game which reached the 18 points difference up to a certain moment. The game was a derby between two equivalent teams which gave it all to the court, Kolossos had in a bad 'mood' some of his key players like Liakopoulos (0/4), Hutten (4/15), and Hopson (3/7) while on the other hand, Coach Priftis received some team work from most of his team as Agelopoulos, Stefanidis and Simtsak offered in both scoring and in rebounds and assisting sections. The 3rd period was the best for the home team as it outscored the visiting site of Kolossos by 23-12 and changed totally the momentum of the game. Top scorers: Kavala: Pacalic 14, Taylor 14, Karapostolou 12, O' Bryant 12. Kolossos: Hutten 10, Boykin 14, Tsamis 19
Ilysiakos - Panathinaikos 58-90 Quarters: 14-22, 35-44, 44-74, 58-90 Obradovis's troops after the poor game against Milano and the only 58 points scored against the Italians in the fourth home loss this season they scored the same amount of points in just 23 minutes! And they outscored the team of Coach Flevarakis by 32 points in a game which reached even the 36 points of difference. There are not many elements to be described in the specific game as the difference in these two teams is simply chaotic; even though Ilysiakos was quite competitive for 20 minutes the 3rd period was amazing for the greens that outscored Ilysiakos with the awesome 9-30! and put a tombstone to any dreams in Ilysiakos for a decent loss. Logan was the top man for Panathinaikos who saw all his players entering the court, scoring at least a basket. Top scorers: Ilysiakos: Nana 20 Panathinaikos: Maric 11, Logan 17, Vougioukas 11, Calathes 11
PAOK - Peristeri 74-70 Quarters: 23-16, 40-31, 58-48, 74-70. The fighting team of Peristeri gave the hard time to the team of PAOK and Coach Markopoulos who saw an easy game becoming a nightmare (nearly) as the players of Peristeri cut the deficit of 15 to as little as the minimum one point before falling heroically to another game. Manolopoulos and Kafkis were the top men for PEristeri while Duvnjak and Kalabokis (in his last official game with PAOK's jersey this season) were the top men on behalf of the home team. Top scorers: PAOK: Duvnjak 20, Dikoudis 12, Kalles 10, Kalabokis 17. Peristeri: Panagiotis Kafkis (197-G-80) 16, Giannopoulos 14, Manolopoulos 13
Olympiakos Piraeus - Aris Thessaloniki 85-66 Quarters: 22-20, 44-39, 50-32, 85-66. A very good game for 3 quarters was performed by Coach Alexandris players who were very close to the score yup until the 25th minute, after that the players of Ivkovic with Spanoulis being the top man over speed and they left behind Verginis and his team-mates. Top scorers: Oly piakos: Spanoulis 15, Dorsey 10, Printezis 10, Papanikolaou 13 Ilysiakos: Verginis 15
Ikaros - Panionios 74-64 Quarters: 16-19, 41-38, 54-50, 74-64. After a great game by the three B's of Ikaros (Baxter, Romel Beck (203-G/F-82, college: UNLV), and Baynes) Ikaros by performing a solid fourth quarter was able to beat the team of Panionios who received no real help from the newcomer (after his injury) Stepheson as his 4 points and 4 rebounds showd clearly that he will need some more time in order to be able to play as he was doing so before his inkury. Coach Bartzokas saw also his key players being very average as Diebler had 2/7, Batis 2/7, Xanthopoulos 2/8 and Jankovic 3/8 with these players being in so bad scoring days Bartzokas had no chance against the passionate B's who scored the 50 points out of the 24 of their team, especially Romel Beck and Baynes scored 41 points and dashed down 18 rebounds while they won 15 fouls!! Top scorers: Ikaros: Baynes 18 and 13 rebounds, Romel Beck 23 Panionios: Kavvadas 11
Maroussi - AGOR 80-92 Quarters: 20-28, 44-41, 62-63, 80-92. Another fighting game by Coach Linardos team, what if there are not even 7 professionals in the team, what if Kanonidis joined the team only 48 hours before, what if the four top performers of the team are now playing in Turkey, France, Cyprus and Italy, still Maroussi who never won a game this season but fought most of them, in another one game fought until the very end and when all the physical powers of the team were gone as four players played more than 32 minutes each (Demertzis, Nikolaidis, Akepsimaidis and Tsontzos) while the new comer Kanonidis played for as many as 29 minutes in his premier game this season! The game was a derby as up until the 29th minute Maroussi was ruling and had the upper hand, in the last period though the Americans Dionte Christmas and Wright put an end to the thrilling game by taking the initiatives and scoring the last points for their team. Top scorers: Marousi: Akepsimaidis 18, Kanonidis 15, Demertzis 16, Sakelariou 15 and Nikolaidis 13 AGOR: Dionte Christmas 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists, Wright 21 points per head, Koumoulos 12, Tsohlas 12, Dorkofikis 15

Forward Spyros Diamantopoulos (197-F-83) put on an amazing game in the last round for Amyntas Dafnis, receiving a Eurobasket.com A2 Player of the Week award for round 2. The 33-year old player was the main contributor (22 points, seven rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Doxa Pefkon (#13, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 77-71. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Amyntas Dafnis maintains the 9th position in Greek A2. Amyntas Dafnis is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Diamantopoulos had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He has many years of experience at Amyntas Dafnis, through which he has constantly improved.
The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old Norwegian Karamo Jawara (203-F-91) of Doxa Pefkon. Jawara had a very good evening with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Doxa Pefkon lost that game 71-77 to Amyntas Dafnis (1-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Jawara is a newcomer at Doxa Pefkon, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward John Sinis (206-F/C-91) of Psyhiko (#16). Sinis showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, six rebounds and four assists in the last round. Despite Sinis' great performance Psyhiko lost 64-78 to Ethnikos (#10, 1-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Psyhiko can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Sinis has a very solid season. In 2 games in Greece he scored 11.0ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Stefan Nikolic (193-G-87) of GS Larissas - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists 5. Vasilis Angelakopoulos (203-F-79) of Iraklis - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Nikos Kokkalis (198-G/F-85) of Ethnikos - 27 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Kostas Totsios (191-G-78) of Iraklis - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Dimitris Lolas (203-F-86) of Irakleio - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Apostolos Koutroulias (206-C-76) of Holargos - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Robert Gilchrist (206-F-90) of Holargos - 11 points and 9 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
