U20 GREECE - U20 SWITZERLAND 81-39

Greece extended its winning streak to three at U20 EuroBasket Division B in Klatovy. This time Greece smashed Switzerland 81-39 for 3-0 record at this event. It was the second appearance for Switzerland and they faced with second straight loss. Greece made 22-point lead at the halftime and increased it to plus 33 for the next ten minutes. Switzerland had no chance for rest of the game. Anthoula Chatzigiakoumi (187-F-92) led Greece in scoring with 15 points, but their best player was Artemis Spanou (184-F-93) with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Styliani Fouraki (186-C-94) netted 12 pts. In defeat, Rosalie Grobet (185-F/C-92) delivered 9 points and Dorothee Studer (169-G-92) had 6. Greece will play against Germany tomorrow. Switzerland will meet Belgium.

A1 is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 11 rounds left. An interesting game for Olympiacos (11-0) which played road game in Athens against 3rd placed Athinaikos (6-4). Leader Olympiacos had an easy win 79-59. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Athinaikos' 28. We bring you last week's top performances from Greeks who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international forward Artemis Spanou (188-93). Khadijah Shumpert claims Greek A1 weekly honour - 5 days ago
American Khadijah Shumpert (188-F/C-93) had a very impressive game in the last round for Panathlitikos and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10. The 23-year old power forward had a double-double of 30 points and fourteen rebounds, while her team beat Panionios (#10, 3-7) 72-58. Panathlitikos is placed at 5th position in Greek A1.
