  follow us on Facebook Twitter

There were just four rounds played in Regular Season of A2 and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Filathlitikos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Filathlitikos smashed 3rd ranked Lavrio at home 89-65. The game was mostly controlled by Filathlitikos. Lavrio managed to win second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Filathlitikos forced 25 Lavrio turnovers and outrebounded them 36-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Lavrio's players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Giannis Adetocunbo (205-94, agency: FCM) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Christos Saloustros (201-90) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Christos Liberopoulos (185-88) replied with 17 points for Lavrio. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Filathlitikos (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Nea Kifisia. Lavrio at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Lavrio will play next round against Agia Paraskevis trying to get back on the winning streak. Filathlitikos will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Irakleio on the road.
Bottom-ranked Niki Volou is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to top-ranked Nea Kifisia (5-0) 74-67. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Vaggelis Karaboulas (198-81, agency: FCM) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 assists and Christos Petrodimopoulos who added 9 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side center Giannis Maltesios (206-85) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Niki Volou's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Nea Kifisia have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Filathlitikos. Newly promoted Niki Volou still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with OFI. Nea Kifisia will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Niki Volou will play against Ikaroi Serron in Serres and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked OFI is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to sixth ranked Aiolos Trikallon (3-2) 59-56 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Nikos Kaklamanos who scored that evening 15 points and 4 assists. Even 8 points and 11 rebounds by Krum Doychinov did not help to save the game for OFI. Aiolos Trikallon have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser OFI still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Niki Volou. Aiolos Trikallon will meet at home Arkadikos (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. OFI will play against Pagrati (#12) in Athens and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
A very interesting game took place in Arkadia. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Arkadikos (1-4) to ninth ranked Ikaroi Serron (3-2) 83-81 on Saturday evening. Kostas Totsios fired 31 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Ikaroi Serron have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Arkadikos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Ikaroi Serron's next round opponent will be Niki Volou (#13) in NIki Volou and are hoping to win another game. Arkadikos will play on the road against Aiolos Trikallon.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Pagrati (1-4) and Agia Paraskevis (3-2), which took place in Paraskevis. Higher ranked Pagrati lost to twelfth ranked Agia Paraskevis in a road game 86-96 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for Nikos Psileas who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds. Pagrati's coach Demetris Liogas tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Agia Paraskevis moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Pagrati lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Agia Paraskevis will face Lavrio (#6) on the road in the next round. Pagrati will play against OFI (#14) in Heraklion.

In the last two games of round 4 Irakleio lost to undefeated Ermis Lagkada on the road 83-88. Doxa Lefkadas lost to Koroivos on its own court 59-68.
The most impressive performance of 4th round was 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds by Theodoros Georgitsis of Ermis Lagkada.

Ermis Lagkada - Irakleio 88-83

No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Ermis Lagkada (4-0) beat 9th ranked Irakleio (1-3) in Lagadas 88-83 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Irakleio was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Ermis Lagkada made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for power forward Theodoros Georgitsis (205-83) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Center Giorgos Anagnostopoulos (207-80) contributed with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Montenegrin forward Bojan Pelkic (206-83) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and guard Kostas Agapiadis (185-92) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Irakleio. Four Irakleio players scored in double figures. Ermis Lagkada have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Irakleio keeps the ninth position with three games lost. Ermis Lagkada will face Koroivos (#4) on the road in the next round. Irakleio will play against the league's leader Filathlitikos (#1).
