Talented former international guard Nikos Pappas (195-G-90, agency: FCM) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Panionios and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4. The 22-year old guard had the game-high 31 points adding six rebounds and five assists for Panionios in his team's victory, helping them to beat Kolossos (#3, 3-1) 89-77. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Panionios to jump to the first place in the Greek A1. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Panionios already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Pappas had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Panionios' top player in his first season with the team. Pappas has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 21.4ppg. Pappas is in league's top in and averages solid 2.2spg,53.5% FGP and 40.9% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old French center Guy-Marc Michel (213-C-88) of KAOD. Michel impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as KAOD lost that game 67-103 to league's leader Olympiacos (#2, 4-0). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. KAOD still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 3-2 record is not bad at all. Michel is a newcomer at KAOD and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
The third best performed player last round was American William Coleman (206-F-88) of Kavala (#14). Coleman scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Coleman's great performance Kavala lost 79-80 to the higher-ranked Apollon Patras (#11, 1-3). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Kavala can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Too bad for Coleman he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Coleman has individually a great season in Greece. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.3ppg (9th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. LaRon Dendy (205-C-88) of Kolossos - 22 points and 4 rebounds 5. Yannis Gagaloudis (192-G-78) of Kavala - 25 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists 6. Keaton Grant (193-SG-86) of Apollon Patras - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Spyros Magounis (200-G-85) of Panelefsiniakos - 17 points and 6 rebounds 8. Georgios Printezis (206-F-85) of Olympiacos - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Muhamed Pasalic (192-G-87) of Aris - 20 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 10.
