With one game remaining (planned to take place tomorrow), the first five games took place for the sixth week of the A2 league with the following results:
Agia Paraskevi - Fialthlitikos 67-87 Periods: 20-13, 44-33, 51-58, 67-87 No issues for the visiting site of Coach Zivas against the disapoinment of the A2 league this season team of Coach Hatzipanigiris, team of Agia Paraskevi. The home team was able to resist only for the first 25 minutes as after that there was only one team in the court and that wasn't the home team! Filathlitikos with Adetokoubo brothers in a great shape and Gikas scoring organising and assisting the team of Zivas did a wonderfull 23-55 in the second half to finally simply thrash the home team and remain steadily in the second position of the A2 league just behind the AEN Kiffisias. Koroivos Amaliadas - Irakleio 83-70 Quarters: 21-17, 43-35, 69-52, 83-70 The team of Head Coach Nipergialis had no problems against the visiting site of Coach Rallis and with four players on double digits and an excellent Panagiotis Magidobe (188-G-88) (mainly from behind the arc since his 6 of 7 three pointers does prove that) beat with thirteen points difference the islanders of Irakleio. The home team took an early lead at the beggining on a single digit but after the first 22 minutes the score went sky-high with the difference reching the 20 points. The visitors tried their best but there was an obvious difference in quality in the two teams Koroivos: Noeas 15, Karydas 13, Giorgos Antoniadis (202-G-87) 22, Panagiotis Magidobe 20 . OFI - Lavrio 71-68 Quarters: 22-20, 34-38, 54-55, 71-68 The second concecutive defeat for Lavrio is a fact! Coach Serelis team was leading the game for the biggest period of the game but at the end the home team of Coach Takianos reacted and with Balafas and Papadakis at the end helped their team to finally win the game since on behalf of the visitors the two free throws by Psmaderis at the end missed their target. Ermis Lagkada - AE Neas Kifisia 65-74 Quarters: 19-19, 30-31, 44-49, 65-74 Only 20 minutes we had a game in Lagkada since that was the time in which the home team was able to defend its home court. After that and in the second half, Moshovitis and Karaboulas took over and added their sixth victory in six games with quite solid and simple basketball style Ermis:Ioakeimidis 11, Plioukas 11, Giorgos Anagnostopoulos (207-C-80) 20 and 10 rebounds AENK: Filippos Moschovitis (190-G-78) 21, Karaboulas 15 and 13 rebounds, Psathas 12.
Arkadikos - Pagrati 87-85 Quarters: 18-16, 43-38, 64-69, 87-85 A great derby took place in Arcadia where the home team of Coach Kastritis finally won the dramatic derby at the end. Govas and Miroslav Cubrilo (205-C-82) scored their thre of four free throws and gave the victory to their team.Five players for the home team has double digitis while Nemanja Vranjes (188-G-88) from the visitors gave his best but his 28 points were not enough for his team. Doxa Lefkadas - Ikaroi Serron 69-71 Quarters: 22-22, 38-37, 50-59, 69-71 With an under doubt bazer beeper free throws by Nikoloudis after a foul? by Manousos which the home team is doubting big time, the team of Coach Kamarkais succeeded a crucial road win in Lefkadas against Coach Vournas team, with Paraskeva Martzos (197-F-85) being the top man of the game for the home team but the duet of Marko Milicevic (204-F-82) and Symeonidis with Totsios helped their team to finally win the game. Panionios complete the Semifinal picture as they won over Aris 74:67 in the decisive third game. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-67. Worth to mention a quality performance of naturalized Serbian forward Vladimir Jankovic (202-90, agency: FCM) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Nikos Pappas (195-90, agency: FCM) helped adding 17 points. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Michalis Pelekanos (198-81, agency: FCM) with 10 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jeremy Hunt (196-83, college: Memphis) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panionios have secured the services of Errick McCollum (185-PG-88, college: Goshen) for the next season. The point guard is in his third pro season. He spent it with Apollon Patras in Greece. Errick McCollum averaged 15.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in A1 League. Last season the guard spent in Israel. He played for Hapoel Kfar Saba/Kohav Yair. The guard notched impressive 24.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game in the National League [read more]

The sweep over PAOK is now a fact! Having the home court disadvantage the team of Coach Thanasis Giaples, AGOR managed to beat twice the team of PAOK and after the road win in Thessaloniki an easy second win came in Rethymnon and with a solid 2-0 the islanders from Crete are officially in the top four teams of the Hellenic Basketball for the season 2012-2013, for the first time in their history!!! This time the MVP of the game was not Brent Petway (204-F-85, college: Michigan) but his fellow American Marc Antonio Carter (191-G-85, college: NC-Wilmington) in a great afternoon to lead his team with 25 points and 7 rebounds followed by Gabe Pruitt (193-G-86, college: USC) with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in just 22 minutes. About the game now, the home team was aggressive from the very beginning and right after three minutes the score was already 11-6. PAOK reacted and with Wiliam Hatcher (188-PG-84, college: Miami, OH) and Papadopoulos came back to take the lead with 13-14. The last two minutes of the first period though were totally belong to the the home team with Leonidas Kaselakis (201-F-90) from behind the arc and Aggelopoulos in his best period in the game brought the difference to 24-17 before PAOK cuts the deficit at the end with Wiliam Hatcher to 27-21. The ex player of AGOR, Dedas scored from behind the arc at the early beginning of the second period to cut the deficit a bit but Gabe Pruitt was there to score 5 points and bring the deficit to double digit for his team 38-25 and 41-25 after a while. The home team had an amazing crescent from the parameter and they managed to top up the team of Soulis Soulis Markopoulos with 50-29 by the end of the first half succeeding a solid 23-8 in the second period!! Things remain the same in the third period with PAOK not being very focused for such a game while Leonidas Kaselakis (201-F-90) on the other site continue his scoring crescent bringing his team to +24 53-29. PAOK reacted and with a 10-0 cut the deficit to 53-39 before Duvnjak's long shot reshaped the score to 56-39 three minutes before the end of the third season. PAOK couldnt react in the level that Coach Soulis Markopoulos wanted and even though the deficit was closing with Wiliam Hatcher and Charlambidiss long shots Leonidas Kaselakis (201-F-90) was there to bring the difference in its normal by the end of the third period, 65-47. The fourth and final period things remain the same as PAOK was below average and AGOR wanted to finish the story in their home court once and for all, Gabe Pruitt (193-G-86, college: USC) and Gabe Pruitt took over in the scoring while PAOK found some good scoring from Margaritis to -16, 75-58 Rethymno was not giving up and with Gabe Pruitt in the scoring line brought the deficit once more to +20 (80-60) .The rest is simply history. The periods: 27-21, 50-29, 65-47, 88-65.
