   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida, currently plays in Eurocup). He was the major contributor in Lokomotiv's victory against the closely-ranked Galatasaray (2-1) crushing them 91-66 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Calathes had a double-double by scoring 20 points and making 10 passes. He also added 6 rebounds in 39 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lokomotiv Kuban (3-0) is placed first in the Eurocup. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Calathes is ranked sixth on the list of the best passers in the league with 5.3apg. He also averaged so far 15.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 59.3%(16-27), 3FGP: 37.5% and FT: 44.4% in the three games he played so far. Calathes is a naturalized American. He is currently a member of the Greek senior national team. Calathes used to play for 3-year contract with Panathinaikos Athens in Greek league.

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: FCM, currently plays in Eurocup). He led his Spanish team Gescrap BB to a victory over the closely-ranked Spirou Charleroi (0-3) 85-69 in the Eurocup last Tuesday. Vasiliadis was MVP of the game. He scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line). It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (3-0) is placed first in the Eurocup. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Vasiliadis has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.3ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.0apg, 2.0spg, 3FGP: 38.5% and FT: 81.3%. Vasiliadis is in the roster of the Greek senior national team.

The Greek player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Kostas Vasiliadis and both played together in the last Eurocup game. Zisis contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Spirou Charleroi (0-3) 85-69. He scored 14 points and added 9 passes in 29 minutes. It's Zisis' first season with the team. Zisis is currently third on the list of best passers with 7.3apg. This year his other stats are: 11.7ppg, 2FGP: 54.5% and FT: 78.6% in the three games. Zisis is also a member of the Greek senior national team.

   #4. Center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked ratiopharm Ulm (2-1) 89-71 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. He scored 14 points, had 4 rebounds, passed 5 assists and added 2 blocks. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Spartak St.Petersburg (3-0) is placed first in the Eurocup. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Mavrokefalidis has relatively good stats this season: 12.0ppg, 5.7rpg and 3.7apg. He used to play for the Greek national team last year.

Kaimakoglou scored 18 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 29 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Unics Kazan (3-0) is placed first in the Eurocup. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. Kaimakoglou has very impressive stats this year: 18.0ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3spg in the three games. He plays currently for the Greek national team.

   #6. Power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Kostas Kaimakoglou and both played together in the last Eurocup game. Vougioukas was the main contributor in an Unics Kazan's victory against the closely-ranked Base Oostende (2-1) 83-72. He was the best player in that game. Vougioukas scored 20 points. This season Vougioukas has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg and 3.7rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Greek National Team roster.

Former University international center Giorgos Galiotos (213-86, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Bulgaria) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Spartak Pleven (1-4) 98-81 in the Bulgarian NBL last Saturday. Galiotos recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 11 rebounds. Cherno More Port Varna (5-1) is placed first in the NBL. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Galiotos is currently sixth on the list of best rebounders. His overall stats this season are: 7.6ppg and 7.4rpg. Galiotos used to play for the Greek university national team three years ago.

   #8. Center Kostas Koufos (213-89, college: Ohio St., currently plays in NBA) contributed to a Denver Nuggets' victory against the Memphis Grizzlies (8-2) 97-92 in the NBA on Monday night. He scored 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 26 minutes. The Denver Nuggets have 6-6 record this season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Koufos' overall stats are: 6.6ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.7bpg in the 12 games. He is a naturalized American. Koufos used to play for the Greek national team last year. Strangely he has never played in Greece.

Former U20 international small forward Dusan Sakota (209-86, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Cimberio Varese in a 1-point victoryagainst the closely-ranked Banco di Sardegna Sassari (6-2) 85-84 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. Sakota scored 5 points in 17 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Cimberio Varese (8-0) is placed first in the SerieA. So far his team won all eight games in the Regular Season. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This year Sakota's total stats are: 6.1ppg and 2.6rpg in the eight games. He used to play for the Greek U20 national team six years ago.

Small forward Linos-Spyridon Chrysikopoulos (205-92, currently plays in Italy) helped Angelico Biella win their game against one of league's weakest teams Air Avellino (2-6) 82-74 in the Italian SerieA on Sunday night. Chrysikopoulos scored 12 points, grabbed 5 boards, handed out 5 passes and blocked 2 shots. Angelico Biella (2-6) is placed 13th in the SerieA. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. Chrysikopoulos has averaged so far 4.0ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.4apg. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Greek National Team roster.

   #11. International forward Antonis Fotsis (209-81, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Italy could not help Armani Milano to beat Anadolu Efes. Fotsis scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. His team lost 71-77. Fotsis has averaged so far 6.7ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.3apg in the six games. He plays currently for the Greek national team.

   #12. Former U20 international center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-87, also represented by FCM, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketligan was not able to help Solna Vikings (6-6) in their last game on Monday. Despite Toutziarakis' good performance Solna Vikings was edged 89-87 on the road by the lower-ranked LF Basket (#8). He recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 18 rebounds. Toutziarakis is currently third on the league's list of best rebounders. He has very reliable stats this season: 11.6ppg, 8.6rpg and 1.4apg. Toutziarakis used to play for the Greek U20 national team back in 2007.

   #13. An experienced former international forward Mihalis Kakiouzis (206-76, another player represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to secure a victory for SAV Vacallo in their game against Monthey in the Swiss LNA. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. His team was defeated 63-56. Kakiouzis has reliable stats this season: 12.5ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.3spg. He used to play for the Greek national team five years ago.

   #14. U18 international swingman Ioannis Papapetrou (203-94, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Texas in their last game. Despite Papapetrou's good performance the Texas lost in an overtime 53-59 in Los Angeles, CA to the University of Southern California. He scored 10 points and added 3 passes in 34 minutes. Papapetrou's stats this year are: 12.5ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.3spg in the six games. He plays currently for the Greek U18 national team.

   #15. Former international forward Christos Tapoutos (203-82, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Olin Edirne in their game against Aliaga in the Turkish TBL. He scored 6 points in 22 minutes. His team lost 80-85. Tapoutos has averaged so far 6.3ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.7apg in the three games. He used to play for the Greek national team seven years ago.

   #1. Pat Calathes (208-G/F-85, college: St.Joseph's, currently plays in Israel) led Maccabi Haifa to a victory against the closely-ranked GreenTops Netanya (5-1) 94-86 in the Israeli Winner League in Sunday night's game. Calathes scored 13 points, had 9 boards, handed out 5 passes and blocked 2 shots in 37 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Maccabi Bazan Haifa (4-2) is placed fourth in the Winner League. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Calathes is currently fifth on the list of best rebounders with 10.0rpg. He also averaged so far 11.7ppg, 2.8apg and 1.3spg in the six games he played so far. Calathes is a naturalized American. He used to play for Costa Cafe Marousi in Greek league.

   #2. Experienced Alexey Savrasenko (215-C-79, currently plays in VTB United League) contributed to Lokomotiv's victory against the sixth-ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (3-3) 74-65 in the VTB United League in Sunday night's game. Savrasenko scored 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Lokomotiv Kuban (4-2) is placed fourth in group B. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Savrasenko's total stats this season are: 2.2ppg and 2.6rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Russian.

   #3. Angelo Tsagarakis (190-G-84, currently plays in France) led Chalons-Reims to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Hyeres-Toulon (3-7) 89-76 in the French ProB (second division) on Tuesday night. He was the top player that evening. Tsagarakis scored 18 points in 33 minutes. Chalons-Reims (6-4) is placed fifth in the ProB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Tsagarakis has reliable stats this year: 13.5ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.2apg in the 10 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Greek and French. Despite Tsagarakis' Greek nationality, he previously played for the French U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Greek team.

   #4. Alex Hill (196-G-90, college: Cornell, currently plays in Canada) was the main contributor in an University of Toronto's victory against the Warriors (0-3) 71-64 in the Canadian university league CIS in Saturday night's game. Hill was the top player that evening. He scored 27 points (!!!) and grabbed 5 rebounds. The University of Toronto has 4-0 record this season. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. Hill has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.8apg. Hill has both Greek and Canadian nationalities.

   #5. Nicholas Livas (198-G-87, college: Ill.-Springfield, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) could not help BG Goettingen (7-3) in their last game. Despite his good performance BG Goettingen lost 65-74 on the road to the leading BG Karlsruhe. Livas was the second best scorer with 12 points. He also added 9 rebounds and 3 assists in 35 minutes. It was BG Goettingen's first loss after four consecutive victories. Livas belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #7 with 7.8rpg. This year he also averages: 11.2ppg, 3.0apg and 1.3spg in the six games. Livas is a naturalized American. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

   #6. Giannis Demertzis (194-PG-83, currently plays in EuroChallenge) managed to help Keravnos Strovolou to win against the closely-ranked Joensuun Kataja 72-67 in the EuroChallenge on Wednesday night. Demertzis scored only 3 points and added 9 passes. He has averaged so far 2.3ppg, 1.7rpg and 6.0apg.

   #7. Corey Petros (208-F/C-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Oakland in their game against the University of Pittsburgh in the NCAA, despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game. Petros scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 42 minutes. But his team lost in an overtime 62-72. He has averaged so far 2.3ppg, 1.7rpg and 6.0apg in the three games. Petros is a naturalized American. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

   #8. Triantafillos Tzakopoulos (187-G-85, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a Duesseldorf Baskets' victory against the league leader BV Chemnitz 99 83-69 in the German ProA (second division) last Sunday. Tzakopoulos recorded 11 points and added 5 passes. He has averaged so far 6.2ppg, 1.9rpg and 3.3apg. Tzakopoulos also holds two passports: Greek and Australian.

   #9. Angelos Tsamis (192-G-81, currently plays in France) helped Limoges CSP Elite edge the league outsider Poitiers 67-66 in the French ProA on Monday night. He recorded 9 points and added 3 assists in 20 minutes. Tsamis has averaged so far 8.0ppg, 2.1rpg and 2.7apg in the seven games.

   #10. Christian Koutras (189-G-88, college: Cuesta JC, currently plays in Sweden) was not able to secure a victory for Akropol in their game against KFUM Blackebergs in the Swedish Basketettan (second division). Despite his very good performance on Saturday night Koutras recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and making 13 passes. He also added 9 rebounds and 6 steals. This season Koutras has very high stats. He averages: 19.0ppg, 6.3rpg, 10.3apg and 4.0spg. Koutras has Greek and Swedish nationalities. Despite his Greek passport, Koutras previously played for the Swedish U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Greek team.
  



B Round 10: Marousi edges Koropi by three points - 2 days ago

The round was exceptionally exciting as four games ended with a tiny margin. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games, games ending by tiny margin and even winless team recording their first victory.
