A1 top team - AO Ellinikou (9-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked Terpsithea (3-6) 73-61. Terpsithea was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 31-17 charge of AO Ellinikou, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for the former international forward Evina Stamati (180-84) who led her team to a victory with 29 points. The former international guard Maria Roza Boni (180-86) contributed with 9 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. AO Ellinikou's coach Eleni Kapogianni used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International forward Anna Spyridopoulou (184-88) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds for Terpsithea. Undefeated AO Ellinikou have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Newly promoted AO Ellinikou maintains first place with 9-0 record. Terpsithea lost fourth consecutive game. Terpsithea at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Olympiakos and Kronos AD. AO Ellinikou are looking forward to face Panathinaikos (#3) in Athens in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Terpsithea will play at home against Aris (#5) in Thessaloniki and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.

Canadian forward Kayla Dykstra (188-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Stavroula Spanidou chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. PAOK's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was forward Zafiria Giabani (185-92) with 12 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for PAOK. They maintain fourth place with 7-2 record. Panionios lost their ninth game in a row. They still closes the standings with nine games lost. They share the position with GAC Eunikos. PAOK will play against Ikaros Kalitheas (#6) in Glyfada in the next round. Panionios will play on the road against GAC Eunikos (#11) in Liosa and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Panathinaikos. Aris at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Athinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Asteras.
The game in Athens was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Kronos AD (3-6) played at the court of eighth ranked Asteras (4-5). Asteras managed to secure a 7-point victory 65-58 on Saturday. It was a good game for Sotiria Marinou who led her team to a victory with 17 points. Asteras moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ikaros Kalitheas. Kronos AD lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Asteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Athinaikos.

In the last game of round 9 Ikaros Kalitheas was beaten by Panathinaikos on the road 61-50.



Panionios - PAOK 43-82

Bottom-ranked Panionios is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to fourth ranked PAOK (7-2) 82-43. The game without a history. PAOK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Panionios' 32 and made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. PAOK forced 30 Panionios turnovers and outrebounded them 34-21 including 21 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Panionios' players. Canadian forward Kayla Dykstra (188-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and swingman Stavroula Spanidou (180-84) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ikaros Kalitheas was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Panathinaikos dominated on the defensive end, holding Ikaros Kalitheas to just 5 points in fourth quarter. It was a good game for international guard Dimitra Kalentzou (174-78) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Ioanna Diela (175-90) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Panathinaikos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Jasmine Erving (187-90, college: CS Northridge) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks and the former international guard Theoni Tzegianaki (162-85) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Ikaros Kalitheas. PAOK Thessalonikis (A1) agreed terms with 28-year old American forward Korinne Campbell (184-88, college: W.Virginia). It is actually her comeback to Thessaloniki as she has played here before. Campbell played this summer at Knox Raiders in Australian Big V. In 13 games she had very impressive stats: 21.5ppg, 10.8rpg, 1.8apg and 1.7spg. PAOK Thessalonikis (A1) landed 28-year old American forward Korinne Campbell (184-88, college: W.Virginia). She plays in the summer at Knox Raiders in Australian Big V. In 12 Big V games she averaged impressive 20.9ppg, 10.9rpg, 1.9apg and 1.8spg.
