AGOR (#5) forced the game against PAOK (#4) into an overtime, but lost by six points 85-91 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of AGOR. Donnie McGrath orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 assists. AGOR's coach Stergios Koufos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. PAOK (6-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Panathinaikos. AGOR at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. PAOK will face Ilysiakos (#13) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. AGOR will play at home against the league's leader Olympiacos (#1) in Athens.

In the last two games of round 8 Aris lost to undefeated Olympiacos on the road 65-100. Panionios won against Panelefsiniakos on its own court 81-73. Kolossos was outscored by Ikaros in Kalitheas 86-66. Peristeri GS was rolled over Panathinaikos at home 41-76. Bottom-ranked Kavala defeated KAOD on the opponent's court 73-72. Apollon Patras smashed Ilysiakos in a home game 94-72.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 15 points and 10 rebounds by Evaggelis Margaritis of PAOK.

Olympiacos - Aris 100-65

No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Olympiacos (8-0) crushed 11th ranked Aris (2-6) in Athens 100-65 on Monday. The game without a history. Olympiacos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Aris' 34 and made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Olympiacos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Aris was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. International forward Kostas Papanikolaou (206-90) contributed with 16 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. The former international forward Michalis Pelekanos (198-81, agency: FCM) replied with 16 points and Bosnian guard Muhamed Pasalic (192-87) added 12 points in the effort for Aris. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-0 record. Aris lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with six games lost. Panionios - Panelefsiniakos 81-73

Very expected game when 12th ranked Panelefsiniakos (2-6) lost to second ranked Panionios (7-1) in Athens 73-81 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-14. Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Ikaros (5-3) rolled over 9th ranked Kolossos (3-5) in Kalitheas 86-66 on Sunday. Peristeri GS - Panathinaikos 41-76

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Peristeri GS (3-5) was outscored by fourth ranked Panathinaikos (6-2) in Athens 76-41 on Sunday. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Peristeri GS to just 4 points in third quarter. Panathinaikos held Peristeri GS to an opponent 24.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.8 percent accuracy of the winners and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They moved-up to third place, which they share with PAOK. Peristeri GS at the other side keeps the eighth position with five games lost.
