Bottom-ranked Kavala managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they won against eighth-ranked Peristeri GS 84-79. And what about a second win in a row after ...seven consecutive loses. Kavala made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Peristeri GS helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized American center Steve Panos (206-88, college: Weber St.) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) chipped in 19 points. The best for the losing side was forward Andreas Kanonidis (198-91) with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Peristeri GS's coach Tzimis Koustenis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kavala (2-7) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Panelefsiniakos. Peristeri GS at the other side dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Aris and KAOD. Kavala is looking forward to face higher ranked Panathinaikos (#4) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Peristeri GS will play at home against Kolossos (#8) in Rodou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

An interesting game took place in Thessaloniki where higher ranked Ikaros (5-4) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Aris (3-6) 70-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ikaros. It was a good game for Kostas Charissis who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Aris' coach Vangelis Agelou allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Aris moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Peristeri GS and KAOD. Ikaros at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Aris' next round opponent will be KAOD (#11) in Dramas. Ikaros will play at home against AGOR (#5) in Rethymno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 9 KAOD lost to Kolossos on the opponent's court 76-82. Ilysiakos unfortunately lost to PAOK in a home game 72-76.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by Kostas Haralampidis of PAOK.



AGOR - Olympiacos 64-78

Kolossos - KAOD 82-76

Everything could happen in Rodou at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Kolossos and 8th ranked KAOD had identical 3-5 record. This time Kolossos used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Dramas 82-76. KAOD was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 24-15 third quarter run of Kolossos. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by KAOD helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international guard Giannis Kalambokis (195-78, agency: FCM) who led his team to a victory with 23 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American point guard Marcus Hatten (186-80, college: St.John's) contributed with 22 points for the winners. The former international center Lazaros Papadopoulos (210-80) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. PAOK's coach Soulis Markopoulos allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Terrell Stoglin (185-91, college: Maryland) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Ernest Scott (201-82, college: Valdosta St.) added 20 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ilysiakos. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for PAOK. They moved-up to third place. Ilysiakos lost their eighth game in a row. Kavala - Peristeri GS 84-79

Bottom-ranked Kavala managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they won against eighth-ranked Peristeri GS 84-79. And what about a second win in a row after ...seven consecutive loses. Kavala made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Peristeri GS helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized American center Steve Panos (206-88, college: Weber St.) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) chipped in 19 points. Four Kavala players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Andreas Kanonidis (198-91) with 22 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Nontas Papantoniou (190-90) scored 14 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Peristeri GS's coach Tzimis Koustenis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kavala (2-7) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Panelefsiniakos. Peristeri GS at the other side dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Aris and KAOD. Kavala is looking forward to face higher ranked Panathinaikos (#4) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Peristeri GS will play at home against Kolossos (#8) in Rodou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Aris - Ikaros 70-60

An interesting game took place in Thessaloniki where higher ranked Ikaros (5-4) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Aris (3-6) 70-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ikaros. It looked good early as Ikaros took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aris had a 22-12 second period charge getting the lead and Ikaros was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-70. It was a good game for power forward Kostas Charissis (212-79, college: USC, agency: FCM) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Michalis Pelekanos (198-81, agency: FCM) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Aris players scored in double figures. Aris' coach Vangelis Agelou allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Danny Gibson (180-84, college: S.Indiana) answered with 21 points and Croatian guard Zoran Vrkic (200-87) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Ikaros. Aris moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Peristeri GS and KAOD. Ikaros at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Aris' next round opponent will be KAOD (#11) in Dramas. Ikaros will play at home against AGOR (#5) in Rethymno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
