A1 is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 11 rounds left.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Athens. First ranked Panathinaikos faced 4th placed PAOK. Host Panathinaikos (10-1) defeated guests from Thessaloniki (8-3) 70-64. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of PAOK. Panathinaikos forced 21 PAOK turnovers and outrebounded them 29-14 including 19 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Diana Delva (188-88, college: Hartford) who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Aristea Maglara (168-83) chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Maria Avtzi (173) produced 15 points and 4 assists for the guests. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-1 record, which they share with Athinaikos and AO Ellinikou. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Panathinaikos is looking forward to face Aris (#7) in Thessaloniki in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. PAOK will play at home against GAC Eunikos in Liosa and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 80-65 loss to eighth ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (5-6) in Glyfada. American center Jasmine Erving (187-90, college: CS Northridge) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. Evgenia Loukatou contributed with 20 points for the winners. Nikolina Ioannidou (174-94) answered with 19 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for GAC Eunikos. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ikaros Kalitheas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. GAC Eunikos lost their eleventh game in a row. They still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Ikaros Kalitheas will play against Kronos AD (#8) at home in the next round. GAC Eunikos will play against PAOK (#4) in Thessaloniki and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Thessaloniki was also quite interesting. Third ranked AO Ellinikou (10-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Aris (5-6). AO Ellinikou defeated Aris 57-43 on Sunday. It was a great evening for Breanna Brock who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Evangelia Kotopodi responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds. AO Ellinikou keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos and Athinaikos. Aris lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. AO Ellinikou will meet Asteras (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Aris will play against the league's leader Panathinaikos in Athens and hope to secure a win.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Athens. Local Olympiakos (3-8) was outscored by second ranked Athinaikos (10-1) 69-42. It was a quality performance for Afroditi Kosma who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Athinaikos' coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Athinaikos. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos and AO Ellinikou. Newly promoted Olympiakos keeps the tenth place with eight games lost. Athinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panionios.

In the last two games of round 11 Kronos AD defeated Panionios in a road game 76-60. Asteras beat Terpsithea at home 78-63.
The best stats of 11th round was 24 points and 10 rebounds by Nena Nikolaidou of Kronos AD.


Ikaros Kalitheas - GAC Eunikos 80-65

Bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 80-65 loss to eighth ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (5-6) in Glyfada. The game was mostly controlled by Ikaros Kalitheas. GAC Eunikos was better in second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ikaros Kalitheas forced 32 GAC Eunikos turnovers and outrebounded them 36-21 including a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ikaros Kalitheas players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. GAC Eunikos was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Jasmine Erving (187-90, college: CS Northridge) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Evgenia Loukatou (184-92) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Ikaros Kalitheas players scored in double figures. Nikolina Ioannidou (174-94) answered with 19 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Anastasia Tserou added 10 points, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for GAC Eunikos. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ikaros Kalitheas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Panionios - Kronos AD 60-76

There was no surprise in Athens where 11th ranked Panionios (1-10) was defeated by seventh ranked Kronos AD (5-6) 76-60. The game without a history. Kronos AD led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 25-of-32 charity shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Kronos AD forced 24 Panionios turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Nena Nikolaidou (190-79) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American guard Jasmine Smith (172, college: St.Mary's, CA) accounted for 25 points and 5 steals for the winning side. Forward Enisa Semaniakou (183-88) came up with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals and forward Zafiria Giabani (185-92) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Panionios in the defeat. Kronos AD moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Panionios at the other side keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Kronos AD's next round opponent will be Ikaros Kalitheas (#5) in Glyfada. It was an exceptional evening for center Katerina Glyniadaki (196-86, college: Cal-Riverside) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Sotiria Marinou (173) accounted for 21 points for the winning side. Canadian-Serbian Forward Stephany Skrba (188-F-87) had a great game in the last round for Proteas, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. The 29-year old player had a double-double of 17 points and 24 rebounds, while her team edged out Niki Lefkadas (#8, 4-5) 71-67. Proteas is placed at 4th position in Greek A1.
