A1 is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 13 rounds left. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Athens. Second ranked Panathinaikos faced 4th placed PAOK. Host Panathinaikos (11-2) defeated guests from Thessaloniki (9-4) 71-61. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Lithuanian swingman Jonas Maciulis (199-85) fired 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. International swingman Michael Bramos (197-87, college: Miami, OH) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. Panathinaikos' coach Argiris Pedoulakis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Lazaros Papadopoulos (210-80) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record having just two points less than leader Olympiacos. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face Aris (#6) in Thessaloniki in the next round. PAOK will play at home against the league's leader Olympiacos in Athens and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Georgios Printezis (206-85, agency: FCM) who helped to win the game recording 18 points. Kostas Papanikolaou contributed with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) answered with 19 points for Apollon Patras. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the thirteenth consecutive win for Olympiacos. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-0 record. Apollon Patras lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Peristeri GS and KAOD. Olympiacos will play against PAOK (#4) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Apollon Patras will play at home against Ikaros (#7) in Kalitheas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Athens between Ilysiakos and Peristeri GS. Twelfth ranked Ilysiakos (4-9) got a very close home victory over 9th ranked Peristeri GS (5-8). Ilysiakos managed to escape with a 2-point win 66-64 on Saturday evening. Terrell Stoglin stepped up and scored 32 points for the winners. Ilysiakos' coach Giorgos Zeugolis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Darrin Williams responded with 19 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ilysiakos. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Kolossos. Loser Peristeri GS dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with KAOD and Apollon Patras. Ilysiakos will meet at home Kavala (#13) in the next round. Peristeri GS will play against Panelefsiniakos (#14) in Eleusina and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Eleusina. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 14th ranked Panelefsiniakos (2-11) to eleventh ranked KAOD (5-8) 76-74 on Saturday evening. Kevin Palmer nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. KAOD moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Peristeri GS and Apollon Patras. Panelefsiniakos lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. KAOD's next round opponent will be higher ranked Panionios (#3) in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panelefsiniakos will play at home against Peristeri GS (#8) in Athens.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Thessaloniki. Local Aris (6-7) outscored 10th ranked Kolossos (4-9) 75-52 on Saturday night. Muhamed Pasalic fired 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Aris' coach Vangelis Agelou felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aris. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ikaros. Kolossos lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Aris will face league's second-placed Panathinaikos in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kolossos will play on the road against AGOR (#5) in Rethymno.

In the last two games of round 13 Kavala was defeated by AGOR in Rethymno 88-79. Panionios beat Ikaros at home 82-75.
The best stats of 13th round was 19 points and 6 rebounds by Brent Petway of AGOR.



Apollon Patras - Olympiacos 69-88

Undefeated leader Olympiacos delivered the thirteenth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 8th ranked Apollon Patras (5-8) 88-69. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. Apollon Patras was better in second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Apollon Patras 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Olympiacos players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Georgios Printezis (206-85, agency: FCM) who helped to win the game recording 18 points. There was no surprise in Rethymno where 13th ranked Kavala (3-10) was defeated by fifth ranked AGOR (8-5) 88-79 on Sunday. Kavala trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 23-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-88 at the end of the game. AGOR made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Kavala was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian guard Uros Duvnjak (190-86, agency: Beo Basket) fired 23 points for the winners. American forward Brent Petway (204-85, college: Michigan) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Canadian-Bosnian guard Nemanja Mitrovic (197-90, college: Portland) produced 24 points and naturalized American center Steve Panos (206-88, college: Weber St.) added 17 points respectively for lost side. No shocking result in a game in Athens where third ranked Panionios (10-3) defeated 6th ranked Ikaros (6-7) 82-75 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-75. Panionios made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Naturalized Serbian forward Vladimir Jankovic (202-90, agency: FCM) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. A very interesting game took place in Eleusina. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 14th ranked Panelefsiniakos (2-11) to eleventh ranked KAOD (5-8) 76-74 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Panelefsiniakos won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Panelefsiniakos 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. KAOD brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. 30 personal fouls committed by Panelefsiniakos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and guard Thodoris Zaras (197-88) accounted for 25 points. A very close game took place in Athens between Ilysiakos and Peristeri GS. Twelfth ranked Ilysiakos (4-9) got a very close home victory over 9th ranked Peristeri GS (5-8). Ilysiakos managed to escape with a 2-point win 66-64 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 38-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ilysiakos made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American point guard Terrell Stoglin (185-91, college: Maryland) stepped up and scored 32 points for the winners and Nigerian-American forward Aloysius Anagonye (203-81, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ilysiakos' coach Giorgos Zeugolis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American center Darrin Williams (205-90, college: Ill.-Chicago) responded with 19 points and the other American import point guard Dwight Thorne (190-88, college: Colorado) scored 17 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ilysiakos. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Kolossos. Loser Peristeri GS dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with KAOD and Apollon Patras. Ilysiakos will meet at home Kavala (#13) in the next round. Peristeri GS will play against Panelefsiniakos (#14) in Eleusina and hope to secure a win.
