Diana Delva
24-year old power forward Diana Delva (188-F/C-88) had a great game in the last round for league's best team Panathinaikos and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14.
She had a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, while her team outclassed Asteras (#8, 5-9) with 27-point margin 75-48. It allowed Panathinaikos to consolidate first place in the Greek A1. Panathinaikos has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 13-1. It's Delva's second year at Panathinaikos and it's hard to imagine this team without her. University of Hartford graduate has very impressive stats this year. Delva is in league's top in points (2nd best: 19.2ppg), rebounds (5th best: 9.9rpg) and averages solid 65.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Theoni Tzegianaki (162-G-85) of Ikaros Kalitheas. She is former international guard in her second season at Ikaros Kalitheas. In the last game Tzegianaki recorded impressive double-double of 13 points and 13 assists. Of course she lead Ikaros Kalitheas to another comfortable win 71-55 over the lower-ranked Terpsithea (#9, 5-9) being unquestionably team leader. Ikaros Kalitheas' 6th position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 7-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Tzegianaki is well-known at Ikaros Kalitheas and she already established her position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to another Ikaros Kalitheas' star - center Jasmine Erving (187-C-90). Erving scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds. She was another key player of Ikaros Kalitheas, helping her team with a 71-55 easy win against the lower-ranked Terpsithea (#9, 5-9). Ikaros Kalitheas needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 7 lost games. Erving has a great season in Greece. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.8ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 11.6rpg (#1 in league). She also has 2.3spg, 2.0bpg and FGP: 51.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Niki Zerva (183-F-79) of Olympiakos - 18 points and 11 rebounds
5. Maria Xanthou (185-F-82) of Kronos AD - 15 points and 15 rebounds
6. Roula Mouli (177-G-85) of Aris - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Stavroula Spanidou (180-G/F-84) of PAOK - 11 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Jasmine Smith (172-G) of Kronos AD - 26 points and 8 rebounds
9. Theodora Panteli (183-F-87) of Asteras - 14 points and 11 rebounds
10. Afroditi Kosma (187-F/C-83) of Athinaikos - 14 points and 11 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

A1 Round 14: Panathinaikos beat Aris Thessal. by three after a very close game - 7 days ago
The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games. Tenth-ranked Aris Thessal. (3-11) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Panathinaikos (10-4) in Thessaloniki on Sunday. The visitors from Athens managed to secure only three-point victory 69-66. However their fans expected much easier game. Panathinaikos forced 31 Aris Thessal. turnovers. Strangely Aris Thessal. outrebounded Panathinaiko...   [read more]
