A1 top team - Panathinaikos (14-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Kronos AD (7-8) in Athens 60-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kronos AD. Kronos AD trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 19-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 52-60 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Kronos AD 43-25 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American power forward Diana Delva (188-88, college: Hartford) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Aristea Maglara (168-83) helped adding 5 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Panathinaikos' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Maria Michou (182-83) with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record, which they share with Athinaikos and AO Ellinikou. Kronos AD at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Ikaros Kalitheas. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Olympiakos.
Second ranked Athinaikos blasted bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (0-15) in Athens 72-31. GAC Eunikos is still unable to win any game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Tatiana Zotova accounted for 10 points and 8 rebounds. Athinaikos' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Nikolina Ioannidou (174-94) came up with 8 points and 5 rebounds for GAC Eunikos in the defeat. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Athinaikos. Defending champion (14-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos and AO Ellinikou. GAC Eunikos lost their fifteenth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Athinaikos will play against Kronos AD (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. GAC Eunikos will play against Terpsithea (#9) in Glyfadas and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Asteras was defeated at home 64-71 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The best player for the winners was Dimitra Chavale who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Theodora Panteli who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. Newly promoted Olympiakos maintains tenth place with 4-11 record. Asteras lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with Terpsithea. Olympiakos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 15: Panionios was destroyed by Aris on the opponent's court 75-43. Terpsithea was outscored by PAOK in a home game 41-65. Ikaros Kalitheas was rolled over AO Ellinikou on the road 80-56.


Aris - Panionios 75-43

Very expected game in Thessaloniki where 11th ranked Panionios (2-13) was crushed by fifth ranked Aris (8-7) 75-43 on Sunday. The game without a history. Aris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Panionios to just 6 points in second quarter. Aris forced 20 Panionios turnovers. The best player for the winners was Bosnian center Aleksandra Begenisic (193-89) who scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Evangelia Kotopodi (188-87) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Zafiria Giabani (185-92) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and forward Enisa Semaniakou (183-88) added 6 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aris. They maintain fifth place with 8-7 record. Loser Panionios keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Aris will meet Ikaros Kalitheas (#7) in the next round. Panionios' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Asteras.

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Olympiakos (#10) and Asteras (#8). Terpsithea managed to win third quarter 13-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Terpsithea to just 6 points in fourth quarter. PAOK forced 25 Terpsithea turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Caila Desroches (193, college: Chicago St.) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Stavroula Spanidou (180-84) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds.
