The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games.

The most exciting game of round 17 in the A1 took place in Thessaloniki. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed PAOK (11-6) to seventh ranked Aris (9-8) 57-54 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of PAOK. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Aris forced 19 PAOK turnovers. Strangely PAOK outrebounded Aris 52-34 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Roula Mouli (177-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Niki Hatzakou (175-82) contributed with 13 points for the winners. American center Caila Desroches (193, college: Chicago St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 18 rebounds for PAOK. Aris moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ikaros Kalitheas and Kronos AD. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Aris is looking forward to face bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (#12) in Liosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PAOK will play at home against Asteras (#8) in Athens and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#1) and Athinaikos (#3). Panathinaikos (16-1) crushed visiting Athinaikos (14-3) by 28 points 83-55. American power forward Diana Delva (188-88, college: Hartford) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and Dimitra Kalentzou chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. The former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85, agency: LBM Management) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Athinaikos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play nineteen players seeing no chance for a win. Panathinaikos have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-1 record. Defending champion Athinaikos keeps the third position with three games lost. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panionios.
Bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 17th consecutive match to second ranked AO Ellinikou (15-2) 89-59 on Saturday evening. Breanna Brock nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Nikolina Ioannidou came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds for GAC Eunikos in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted AO Ellinikou maintains second place with 15-2 record behind leader Panathinaikos. GAC Eunikos lost their seventeenth game in a row. They still closes the standings. AO Ellinikou will meet Kronos AD (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. GAC Eunikos will play against Aris (#5) in Thessaloniki and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The best player for the winners was Roula Kalogirou who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Ikaros Kalitheas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Aris and Kronos AD. Asteras at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Ikaros Kalitheas' next round opponent will be Olympiakos (#10) in Athens which should be theoretically an easy game. Asteras will play on the road against PAOK in Thessaloniki.

Panionios' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.

In the last game of round 17 Kronos AD smashed Terpsithea on the road 70-51.
The most impressive performance of 17th round was 22 points and 11 rebounds by Aggeliki Tserou of Asteras.

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Athens: Olympiakos (#10) and Panionios (#11). Olympiakos (5-12) crushed visiting Panionios (2-15) by 27 points 77-50. Olympiakos dominated on the defensive end, holding Panionios to just 7 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Panionios' 28. Olympiakos forced 26 Panionios turnovers. The former international forward Niki Zerva (183-79) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Dimitra Chavale contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Olympiakos players scored in double figures. Olympiakos' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Zafiria Giabani (185-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Tonia Danousi (178-90) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Panionios. It looked good early as Asteras took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ikaros Kalitheas had a 16-13 second period charge getting the lead and Asteras was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-72. The best player for the winners was guard Roula Kalogirou (172-81) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Jasmine Erving (187-90, college: CS Northridge) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ikaros Kalitheas players scored in double figures. Center Aggeliki Tserou (185-74) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and forward Theodora Panteli (183-87, college: Binghamton) added 20 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Ikaros Kalitheas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Aris and Kronos AD. Asteras at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Panathinaikos outrebounded Athinaikos 41-23 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Panathinaikos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 73.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Kronos AD (9-8) crushed 9th ranked Terpsithea (6-11) in Glyfadas 70-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kronos AD. Terpsithea was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Anastasia Gotzi orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points. American guard Jasmine Smith (172, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Kronos AD's coach Theodoros Orfanidis used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Cypriot guard Eleana Pantazi (177-83) answered with 26 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Maria Panagiotopoulou (187-83) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Terpsithea. Kronos AD moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ikaros Kalitheas and Aris. Newly promoted Terpsithea dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost.
