Bottom-ranked Panelefsiniakos managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the three-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time newly promoted Panelefsiniakos won against fifth-ranked AGOR in Eleusina 90-80. The hosts trailed by 12 points at the halftime before their 48-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Panelefsiniakos had a 30-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Panelefsiniakos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. It was a good game for guard Spyros Magounis (200-85, agency: FCM) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (189-83, agency: FCM) contributed with 21 points and 6 assists for the winners. Panelefsiniakos' coach Giorgos Skarafingas used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Marc Antonio Carter (191-85, college: NC-Wilmington, agency: Limelight Hoops) replied with 26 points and 4 assists for AGOR. Newly promoted Panelefsiniakos maintains fourteenth position with 4-14 record. AGOR at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Panelefsiniakos are looking forward to face higher ranked Ilysiakos (#10) in Athens in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. AGOR will play at home against Panionios (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
A1 top team - Olympiacos (17-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Peristeri GS (5-13) in Athens 105-57. The former international forward Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Dimitrios Mavroeidis chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Nontas Papantoniou (190-90) with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-1 record. Peristeri GS lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Olympiacos will play against Kavala (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Peristeri GS will play against Ikaros in Kalitheas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#3) and Ilysiakos (#10). Ilysiakos was smashed at home by 25 points 62-87 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Kostas Tsartsaris notched 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort. Even 23 points by Terrell Stoglin did not help to save the game for Ilysiakos. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panathinaikos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Panionios. Ilysiakos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Panathinaikos will meet at home KAOD (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Ilysiakos will play against Panelefsiniakos in Eleusina and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18: KAOD was beaten by Ikaros on the road 80-74. PAOK won against Kavala on its own court 81-69. Kolossos unfortunately lost to Apollon Patras in a road game 66-78. Panionios managed to beat Aris at home 82-75.

Ikaros - KAOD 80-74

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Ikaros (7-11) beat 10th ranked KAOD (5-13) in Kalitheas 80-74 on Monday. KAOD trailed by 21 points after 3 quarters before a 28-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 74-80 at the end of the game. Ikaros dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to KAOD's 26. Croatian guard Zoran Vrkic (200-87) notched 19 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Alexis Kiritsis (198-82) supported him with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 20 points and 4 assists by American guard Preston Knowles (185-89, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for KAOD. His fellow American import guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola, MD, agency: Two Points) added 13 points. Four KAOD players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ikaros maintains eighth position with 7-11 record. KAOD lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Ikaros will meet Peristeri GS (#12) in the next round. KAOD will play against the league's second-placed Panathinaikos where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#3) and Ilysiakos (#10). Ilysiakos was smashed at home by 25 points 62-87 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Ilysiakos' players. The former international forward Kostas Tsartsaris (209-79) notched 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Lithuanian swingman Jonas Maciulis (199-85) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Even 23 points by American point guard Terrell Stoglin (185-91, college: Maryland) did not help to save the game for Ilysiakos. His fellow American import forward Travis Garrison (203-84, college: Maryland) added 7 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panathinaikos have a solid three-game winning streak. The former international forward Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international center Dimitrios Mavroeidis (208-85, agency: FCM) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Olympiacos players scored in double figures. PAOK - Kavala 81-69

Very expected game when 11th ranked Kavala (5-13) lost to fourth ranked PAOK (14-4) in Thessaloniki 69-81 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by PAOK. Kavala managed to win third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Mihalis Tsairelis (207-88) notched 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and point guard Kostas Haralampidis (189-76) supported him with 19 points. Even 18 points by Canadian-Bosnian guard Nemanja Mitrovic (197-90, college: Portland) did not help to save the game for Kavala. Naturalized American center Steve Panos (206-88, college: Weber St.) added 12 points. Kavala's coach Angelos Koronios rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. PAOK have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 14-4 record. Loser Kavala dropped to the tenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. PAOK will meet Kolossos (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Apollon Patras - Kolossos 78-66

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Apollon Patras (9-9) won against at home 9th ranked Kolossos (6-12) 78-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-66. Apollon Patras made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Kolossos turnovers. American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) notched 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-83, college: Fair Dickinson) supported him with 17 points. Even 14 points by the former international guard Giannis Kalambokis (195-78, agency: FCM) did not help to save the game for Kolossos. American point guard Marcus Hatten (186-80, college: St.John's) added 12 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Newly promoted Apollon Patras maintains sixth position with 9-9 record. Loser Kolossos keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Apollon Patras will meet Aris (#7) in the next round. Kolossos will play against PAOK in Thessaloniki and hope to secure a win.

Panionios - Aris 82-75

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Aris (8-10) lost to third ranked Panionios (15-3) in Athens 75-82 on Saturday. Aris trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 24-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 75-82 at the end of the game. Panionios made 30-of-33 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game, while Aris only scored fourteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Aris 40-21 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Landon Milbourne (201-87, college: Maryland, agency: Three Eye Sports) notched 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized Serbian forward Vladimir Jankovic (202-90, agency: FCM) supported him with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Even 20 points by guard Dimitris Verginis (193-87, agency: FCM) did not help to save the game for Aris. Bosnian guard Muhamed Pasalic (192-87) added 15 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Panionios have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Panathinaikos. Loser Aris keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Panionios will meet AGOR (#5) in the next round.
