The Regular Season in A1 is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds.

The most exciting game of round 19 in the A1 took place in Ellinikou. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of their biggest opponent AO Ellinikou (16-3) to third ranked Athinaikos (16-3) 59-58 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AO Ellinikou. AO Ellinikou cut a 14-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. Guard Zoi Kechagia (170-79) fired 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated AO Ellinikou. Athinaikos is looking forward to face Aris (#6) in Thessaloniki in the next round. AO Ellinikou will play on the road against Terpsithea (#9) in Glyfadas and is hoping to win this game.
Leader Panathinaikos delivered the eighteenth victory. This time they beat 9th ranked Terpsithea (6-13) 60-48 in Athens. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Diana Delva (188-88, college: Hartford) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. Dimitra Kalentzou contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Panathinaikos' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Michelle Harrison (190-87, college: Utah) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for Terpsithea. Panathinaikos (18-1) have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place. Terpsithea lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Panathinaikos will play against Ikaros Kalitheas (#5) in Glyfada in the next round. Terpsithea will play at home against the league's second-placed AO Ellinikou (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (0-19) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 59-57 loss to eighth ranked Asteras (7-12) in Athens on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for Theodora Panteli who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. At the losing side Stefania Sideri responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Asteras maintains eighth place with 7-12 record. GAC Eunikos lost their nineteenth game in a row. They still closes the standings. Asteras will meet higher ranked Kronos AD (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GAC Eunikos will play against Olympiakos (#10) in Athens and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Ikaros Kalitheas' next round opponent will be league's leader Panathinaikos in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panionios will play on the road against PAOK (#4) in Thessaloniki.

In the last two games of round 19 Kronos AD was defeated by Aris in Thessaloniki 55-50. Olympiakos was beaten by PAOK at home 48-55.


Panionios - Ikaros Kalitheas 53-66

The game with biggest result difference took place in Athens. Local Panionios (2-17) lost to fifth ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (11-8) 66-53. The game was mostly controlled by Ikaros Kalitheas. Panionios was better in second period 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ikaros Kalitheas forced 26 Panionios turnovers. It was a quality performance for American center Jasmine Erving (187-90, college: CS Northridge) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Roula Kalogirou (172-81) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Forward Zafiria Giabani (185-92) came up with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Enisa Semaniakou (183-88) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Panionios in the defeat. Panionios lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 17 games lost. The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Kronos AD's (9-10) road loss to sixth ranked Aris (11-8) 50-55. The hosts were ahead by 5 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 24-16 run, which allowed them to win the game. Aris dominated on the defensive end, holding Kronos AD to just 7 points in first quarter. It was an exceptional evening for Bosnian center Aleksandra Begenisic (193-89) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Roula Mouli (177-85) accounted for 1 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side. The former international power forward Nena Nikolaidou (190-79) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Jasmine Smith (172, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Kronos AD in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aris. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ikaros Kalitheas. Kronos AD at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Aris' next round opponent will be higher ranked Athinaikos (#3) in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kronos AD will play at home against Asteras (#8) in Athens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game in Athens where fourth ranked PAOK (13-6) defeated 10th ranked Olympiakos (5-14) 55-48. Olympiakos was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 30-22 second half run of PAOK. They also forced 19 Olympiakos turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for forward Maria Avtzi (173) who led the winners and scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Caila Desroches (193, college: Chicago St.) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. The former international forward Niki Zerva (183-79) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and Dimitra Chavale added 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Olympiakos in the defeat. PAOK maintains fourth place with 13-6 record. Newly promoted Olympiakos keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. PAOK's next round opponent will be Panionios (#11) in Athens and are hoping to win another game. Olympiakos will play on the road against GAC Eunikos in Liosa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (0-19) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 59-57 loss to eighth ranked Asteras (7-12) in Athens on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But GAC Eunikos won third quarter 12-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for forward Theodora Panteli (183-87, college: Binghamton) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Sotiria Marinou (173) helped adding 17 points. Four Asteras players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Stefania Sideri (178-94, agency: Veracity Sports, LLC) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Nikolina Ioannidou (174-94) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. American Center Shamela Hampton (191-C-87) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Panathinaikos, receiving a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 15.
