Besiktas celebrated nice 80-75 against the Greek Athinaikos jumping on top of Group F alone with perfect 2-0. At the same time, Athinaikos joined Hatis Yerevan with 1-1. Besiktas celebrated nice 80-75 against the Greek Athinaikos jumping on top of Group F alone with perfect 2-0. At the same time, Athinaikos joined Hatis Yerevan with 1-1. Nykesha Sales (183-F/G-76, college: Connecticut) stepped up for the hosts with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Shavonte Zellous (178-G-86, college: Pittsburgh) was behind her with 19, while Sandra Mandir (177-G-77) added 3 points less. They made a huge step forward to the next round, despite there is one more game to be played in Qualifying Stage. In the loosing squad, Candice Wiggins (180-G-87, college: Stanford) delivered 16 pts. Polymnia Saregkou (185-G-72) stopped on 15. Opening ten minutes were totally leveled. Both teams stopped on 21 pts. In the next period, Besiktas players took control on Athinaikos and they managed to grab 4-point lead until the half time. It was 44-39. Nothing has changed after that as Besiktas still was slightly better team. Nykesha Sales and her teammates reached double-digit lead (58-47) at the midway of third period and it was clear they are on the right track to victory. Athinaikos managed to tie the score few times, but never to take the lead in the finish. Dacic, Nykesha Sales and Shavonte Zellous were almost unmistakable from the free throw line when it was the most important for their team. That is how Besiktas got last five, and at the same time the crucial points in this game.

Faliro on the road 54-60 getting 14 points from Aikaterina Sotiriou (187-F-84). Visitors slipped to 3-2. In the other games of Round 5, Olympiada celebrated against Olympiakos on the road 59-67 for the first win this season. The Reds dropped to 2-2. Panionios moved up to fourth place and 3-1 score after 74-67 win against FEA Neas. Round 6 is scheduled for Sunday.

After Paleo Faliro Pireus now was the turn of Apollon Kalamarias to Drop Out of the Euro Cup.The managament of Kalamaria decided due to financial problems and lack of sponsors and by playing only one game with BC ICIM Arad to drop out of the Euro Cup,in the official team statement they declare 'This decision was taken because of the serious economic requirements that we cannot longer afford [read more]
