Another sad story for the Cyprus NT - Jul 13, 2016

From the successful basketball youth academies another miracle raised three years ago, the amazing AJ Edu, a Philippine Nigerian basketball player who spent most of his basketball life in Limassol playing under the coaching of Kallia Papadopoulou. The young talented player who is currently 2.07 with body which can easily reach the 2.13 left Cyprus due to bureaucratic issues as the federation (once more) couldn't react as it supposed to and never got him the necessary papers to be able to stay in the island and play ball. The talented player left Cyprus for UK where he played in two teams. Edu is currently playing for the Bristol Flyers cadet team, a known farm team of the British junior national team, in the British Basketball League and for Swansea Storm in Wales League.
He is dominating Men's D1, U18, and U16. He's been nominated MVP for Men's D1 in almost every game they have which is quite remarkable for a 15 year old boy and also the same with the other categories Bristol Flyers (AJ's team) were crowned the under 16 National Basketball Development League champions following a 79-76 victory over Leicester Dynamite.

None the less, the boy is amazing but the Cyprus federation once more is showing its weakness to keep players in the island, besides there are so many success stories - success players who had the chance to become Cypriots (or they were Cypriots) but never played for the Cyprus NT simply due to the fact that the federation was not able to cope with the paper work needed, players like Eleana Christinaki (top scorer with t he Greek NT U20), Panagiotis Giannaras (member of the U18 of the Greek NT), Andreas Christodoulou (ex international player with the U20 of the Greek NT), Alexandros Vezenkov (member of the Bulgarian U20 NT and not Men;s NT) and many more examples do exist to remind us that the Cyprus Basketball Federation can't cope with the times changing, this is quite pity having in mind that most of the countries can do all the necessary steps to promote their basketball and their National Team, Cyprus people remain simply stand still and motionless in all these changes...

AJ Edu played this season two games with the jersey of the Cyprus NT U16 and was awesome, both games were against the Greek NT and he was the MVP of the game, other than that though.... nothing.. The federal Head Coach was expecting the young talented player to be added in his team but.. the Federation couldn't proceed as it suppose to..

At the same time, the young talented AJ Edu is now a target of big clubs and other basketball countries who can offer him the necessary papers, can act immediately and can give him the passport needed, what a pity form this young talented player who can easily become the Antetokounmpo of the Cyprus NT!!

Champions League: Nymburk crush visiting Aris - 3 days ago
Nymburk - Aris 99:70 Nymburk claimed the first win in Champions League regular season. They stormed past Aris for 1-1 record in Group D.
