   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Giannis Antetokounmpo (211-94, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Milwaukee Bucks (24-30) in their last game. Despite Antetokounmpo's very good performance the Milwaukee Bucks (24-30) lost 114-122 on the road to the Los Angeles Lakers. He was the top scorer with 41 points. Antetokounmpo also added 8 rebounds, passed 6 assists and added 3 blocks in 42 minutes on the court. It's Antetokounmpo's fourth season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Antetokounmpo averages: 23.5ppg, 8.8rpg, 5.5apg, 2.0bpg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 57.6%(402-698), 3FGP: 28.1% and FT: 79.3% in 52 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Nigerian. Antetokounmpo is currently a member of the Greek senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84, currently plays in China). He was not able to help Qingdao Eagles (16-20) in their last game on Friday. Despite Mavrokefalidis' very good performance Qingdao Eagles were edged 101-100 in Sichuan by the higher-ranked Sichuan BW (#7). He was the top scorer with 37 points. Mavrokefalidis also added 8 rebounds and 4 assists. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Mavrokefalidis' first season with the team. This year he has very high stats. Mavrokefalidis averages: 20.3ppg, 8.8rpg, 2.5apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 55.8%(101-181), 3FGP: 35.0%. Former Panathinaikos Athens starter played for the Greek national team in 2013.

   #3. The Greek player who performed third best last week abroad was former international swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH, currently plays in Italy). He was not able to secure a victory for Umana Venezia (12-7) in their game against Grissin Bon RE (11-8) in the Italian Serie A. Bramos recorded 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 35 minutes. But Umana Venezia was edged 74-73 in Reggio Emilia by the lower-ranked (#5) Grissin Bon RE. It was Umana Venezia's third consecutive loss in a row. Bramos has relatively good stats this year: 10.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 48.8%, 3FGP: 43.9% and FT: 84.0% in 19 games. He is a naturalized American. Bramos played for the Greek national team four years ago. Strangely he has never played in Greece.

   #4. Center Giorgos Bogris (210-89, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help CB Canarias (15-5) in their game against Gran Canaria (12-8) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Bogris scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. CB Canarias was defeated 70-60 in Las Palmas by the lower-ranked Gran Canaria (#7). They ended the series of six consecutive victories. Bogris' overall stats this season are: 7.1ppg and 4.0rpg. He is also Greek national team player.

Former international guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83, also represented by Octagon Europe, currently plays in Germany) led Brose Baskets to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (8-13) 76-57 in the German BBL last Sunday. Zisis recorded 12 points (made all of his seven free throws) in only a mere 14 minutes. Brose Baskets Bamberg (19-1) is placed second in the BBL. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. This year Zisis' overall stats are: 8.1ppg, 2.1rpg and 3.7apg in 16 games. He used to play for the Greek national team two years ago.

   #6. Small forward Stratos Perperoglou (203-84, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help FC Barcelona (8-14) in their game against Galatasaray (7-15) in the Euroleague. Perperoglou did not beat the league record on Friday evening. He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. The 12th-placed FC Barcelona (8-14) was defeated 69-62 at home by the lower-ranked Galatasaray (#15) in the group A of Euroleague. It was FC Barcelona's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Perperoglou's total stats this season are: 5.1ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.5apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Greek National Team roster.

   #7. Former U18 international power forward Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83, currently plays in Argentina) couldn't help Boca Juniors (9-24) in their last game. Despite Lampropoulos' very good performance Boca Juniors (#10) lost 69-74 in Concordia to the second-ranked Estudiantes in the Sur group. He was the top scorer with 22 points. Lampropoulos also added 8 rebounds in 35 minutes. It was Boca Juniors' seventh consecutive loss in a row. Lampropoulos has very impressive stats this year: 15.4ppg, 8.4rpg and 1.7apg in 33 games. He used to play for the Greek U18 national team fourteen years ago.

Small forward Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90, currently plays in Kazakhstan) led Astana to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Barsy Atyrau (4-6) 80-67 in the Kazakhstan National League last Saturday. Kaselakis was MVP of the game. He scored 20 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 6 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BK Astana (14-0) is placed first in the National League. So far his team won all fourteen games in the Regular Season. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Kaselakis has very high stats. He averages: 17.8ppg, 8.0rpg, 5.0apg and 1.6spg. Kaselakis used to play for the Greek U20 national team back in 2010.

Former international power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis, currently plays in EuroCup) contributed to Lokomotiv's victory against the closely-ranked UCAM Murcia (1-5) 85-77 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Vougioukas scored 9 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lokomotiv Kuban (5-1) is placed first in the Eurocup. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Second Stage. So now every game will be important. Vougioukas' total stats this season are: 8.9ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.8apg. He used to play for the Greek national team three years ago.

   #10. Center Kostas Koufos (213-89, college: Ohio St., currently plays in NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Boston Celtics (36-19) 108-92 in the NBA last Wednesday. Koufos scored 6 points, had 11 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 27 minutes. The Sacramento Kings have 24-32 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This year Koufos' total stats are: 6.2ppg and 5.5rpg in 55 games. He is a naturalized American. Koufos is an international player who is currently on the senior Greek National Team roster. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

   #11. Former international guard Dimitrios Katsivelis (196-91, currently plays in Kazakhstan) is a teammate of previously mentioned Leonidas Kaselakis. But that was another game of his team in Kazakhstan National League which we would like to mention. Katsivelis was the major contributor in Astana's victory against one of league's weakest teams Barsy Atyrau 79-64. He scored 16 points, had 4 boards, passed 6 assists and added 6 steals. Katsivelis has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 4.8rpg, 6.8apg and 2.8spg. He used to play for the Greek national team four years ago.

   #12. International shooting guard Tyler Dorsey (193-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Oregon's victory against the University of Southern California 81-70 in the NCAA last Saturday. Dorsey recorded 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. This season he has relatively solid stats: 13.1ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.9apg. Dorsey is a naturalized American. He is also in the roster of the Greek national team. Interesting that Dorsey has never played in Greece.

   #13. Former U18 international center Ioannis Dimakopoulos (218-94, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Univ. of California-Santa Barbara 64-47 in the NCAA on Wednesday night. Dimakopoulos recorded 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Dimakopoulos has reliable stats this season: 11.5ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.2apg. He used to play for the Greek U18 national team five years ago.

   #14. Former U19 international forward Konstantinos Mitoglou (208-96, is currently at the American university) couldn't help the one of league's weakest teams Wake Forest in their game against the Clemson University in the NCAA. Mitoglou recorded 5 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 28 minutes. His team lost 83-95. Mitoglou has averaged so far 9.3ppg and 6.0rpg in 25 games. He used to play for the Greek U19 national team back in 2015.

   #15. Former U18 international swingman Haris Plioukas (200-89, currently plays in Germany) was the main contributor in a Hagen BG's victory against the eighth-ranked Bielefeld 100-89 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) on Saturday night. He was the best player in that game. Plioukas scored 26 points (!!!), grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 28 minutes. Plioukas' stats this year are: 11.9ppg, 2.5rpg, 1.8apg and 1.3spg in 19 games. He used to play for the Greek U18 national team ten years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Greek passport but never been selected to any of Greek national teams:

   #1. Zach Auguste (208-C-93, agency: Pensack Sports, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup). He could not help Usak Sportlif to beat Oradea. Auguste recorded 9 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 22 minutes. It was his first game for Usak Sportlif this season. But Usak Sportlif (#3) lost 72-82 on the road to the lower-ranked (#7) Oradea in the group Q of FIBA Europe Cup. Auguste is a naturalized American. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

   #2. Nazareth Mitrou-Long (193-G-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Iowa St. to an easy victory against the The University of Oklahoma (11-3) 80-64 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Mitrou-Long recorded 23 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 28 minutes. The Iowa State University has 7-5 conference record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Mitrou-Long is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Iowa St.'s roster. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Mitrou-Long averages: 15.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 2.8apg and 1.2spg in 24 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Canadian. Despite Mitrou-Long's Greek passport, he previously played for the Canadian U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Greek team.

   #3. Patrick Calathes (207-F-85, college: St.Joseph's, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help AV Cantu in their game against Banco di Srd (11-8) in the Italian Serie A. He recorded 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 23 minutes. AV Cantu lost 65-80 in Sassari to the much higher-ranked (#4) Banco di Srd. Calathes has reliable stats this year: 12.4ppg and 8.4rpg in five games. He is a naturalized American. Calathes used to play for Costa Cafe Marousi in Greek league.

   #4. Nikolaos Stylianou (198-F-88, college: W.Texas A&M, currently plays in Cyprus) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Apollon (3-13) crushing them 78-44 in the Cypriot Division A in Saturday night's game. He scored 9 points. Keravnos Strovolou (12-1) is placed first in the Division A. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Stylianou has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 3.2rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Greek and Cypriot.

   #5. Maximiliano Sole (198-F-88, agency: Duran International, currently plays in Spain) led Real Madrid II to a victory over the 11th-ranked Alcobendas (8-10) 75-60 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Wednesday. Sole was the best player in that game. He had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 18 rebounds in 32 minutes. Real Madrid II (14-5) is placed third in Group B. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Sole has reliable stats this year: 10.9ppg, 8.3rpg, 2.9apg and 1.7spg in 18 games. He has both Uruguayan and Greek nationalities.

   #6. Vaggelis Loukas (196-F, currently plays in Canada) was not able to secure a victory for the University of Northern British Columbia (6-14) in their last game on Friday. Despite Loukas' good performance the University of Northern British Columbia (#3) was crushed 89-59 in Saskatoon, SK by the Huskies. He was the second best scorer with 11 points. Loukas also added 5 rebounds. Loukas has averaged so far 9.5ppg, 7.1rpg, 1.7apg and 1.4spg.

   #7. Nikolas Cirkovic (200-F-96, currently plays in Serbia) managed to help OKK Beograd to win against the closely-ranked Beovuk 72 93-84 in a derby game in the Serbian KLS in Sunday night's game. Cirkovic scored only 2 points. This season Cirkovic averages just 1.3ppg. He also holds two passports: Greek and Serbian.

   #8. Georgios Angelou (185-G-94, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the St.Francis, PA in their game against the Wagner College in the NCAA. Angelou scored 8 points in 19 minutes. His team was edged 76-74. Angelou has averaged so far 7.7ppg, 1.3rpg and 2.1apg in 25 games.

   #9. Theodor Aliferis (183-G-88, currently plays in Norway) couldn't help Persbraten (1-22) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked Persbraten was crushed 103-74 at home by the higher-ranked Gimle BBK (#4). Aliferis was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Aliferis has averaged so far 8.7ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.0apg. He has Greek and Norwegian nationalities. Despite Aliferis' Greek passport, he previously played for the Norwegian U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Greek team.

   #10. Gerasimos Koutoufas (196-F, currently plays in NCAA2) couldn't help the Mansfield, PA in their game against the Kutztown University in the NCAA2. Koutoufas scored 7 points in 18 minutes. His team lost 79-83 in the NCAA2. Koutoufas has averaged so far 4.8ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.1apg in 18 games.

Port of Antwerp Giants (Euromillions League) signed 24-year old American guard Kevin Punter (188-82kg-93, college: Tennessee). He started the season at GS Lavrio in Greek A1 league.
