Yannis
Gagaloudis
An interesting game for Iraklis (16-3) which hosted in Thessaloniki their biggest opponent Doukas (15-3). Third ranked Iraklis managed to get a 11-point victory 88-77. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Doukas. It was a key game for the second position in the league. They outrebounded Doukas 31-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Doukas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists. Swingman Dimitrios Kalaitzidis (198-85, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Spanish center Guillem Rubio (202-82) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for Doukas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iraklis have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Doukas at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Iraklis are looking forward to face Ethnikos (#7) in Piraeus in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Doukas will play at home against AE Larissas (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
A2 top team - Panionios (18-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixteenth ranked Pagrati (2-17) in Athens 93-61. It was a great evening for guard Sakis Karydas (182-79) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Marios Matalon helped adding 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side point guard Andreas Skoufis (191-98) responded with 21 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panionios have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Newly promoted Panionios maintains first place with 18-1 record. Pagrati lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Panionios will play against Irakleio (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Pagrati's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Psychiko.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Larissas: AE Larissas (#9) and GS Larissas (#15). AE Larissas (10-9) won against visiting GS Larissas (4-15) 89-80. It was an exceptional evening for Sigurdur Thorsteinsson who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Sotiris Gioulekas came up with 26 points and 6 rebounds for GS Larissas in the defeat. AE Larissas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. GS Larissas lost their third game in a row. GS Larissas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. AE Larissas will meet higher ranked Doukas (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GS Larissas will play against Doxa Pefkon (#10) and hope to secure a win.

Other games in round 19 were not that significant. Ethnikos beat Irakleio on the road 79-74. Faros destroyed Amyntas Dafnis on its own court 100-69. Holargos managed to outperform Aiolos Astakou in a road game 67-62. Kavala recorded a loss to Psychiko at home 73-82. Arkadikos was defeated by Doxa Pefkon on the opponent's court 78-67.
The most impressive performance of 19th round was 15 points and 8 rebounds by Marios Batis of Faros.

Pagrati - Panionios 61-93

They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Panionios will play against Irakleio (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them.
