   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Giannis Antetokounmpo (211-94, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in NBA). He led Milwaukee Bucks to a victory over the New York Knicks (27-41) 104-93 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. Antetokounmpo was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 32 points and getting 13 rebounds. Antetokounmpo also added 7 assists, 2 blocks and 4 steals in 41 minutes on the court. The Milwaukee Bucks have 32-34 record this season. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. It's Antetokounmpo's fourth year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Antetokounmpo averages: 23.1ppg, 8.6rpg, 5.4apg, 1.9bpg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 57.3%(497-868), 3FGP: 27.6% and FT: 78.9% in 65 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Nigerian. Antetokounmpo is currently a member of the Greek senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Giorgos Bogris (210-89, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Movil Estudiantes (17-5) 82-63 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Sunday. Bogris scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias (18-5) is placed first in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Bogris' first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 7.6ppg, 4.0rpg, 2FGP: 56.9%(82-144) and FT: 55.6%. Bogris is in the roster of the Greek senior national team.

   #3. The Greek player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international small forward Stratos Perperoglou (203-84, currently plays in Spain). He could not help FC Barcelona (15-7) in their last game. Despite Perperoglou's very good performance FC Barcelona was edged 76-75 on the road by the second-ranked Real Madrid. He was the top scorer with 16 points in 20 minutes. This year Perperoglou's overall stats are: 7.4ppg, 2.9rpg, 2FGP: 57.6%(34-59), 3FGP: 24.5% and FT: 53.6% in 16 games. He is also a member of the Greek senior national team.

Swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an Umana Venezia's victory against the 11th-ranked The Flexx PT (10-12) 78-71 in the Italian Serie A in Sunday night's game. Bramos recorded 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Umana Reyer Venezia (14-8) is placed second in the Serie A. Bramos' total stats this season are: 9.8ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.4apg. He is a naturalized American. Bramos used to play for the Greek national team back in 2013. Strangely he has never played in Greece.

   #5. Former U18 international power forward Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to help Boca Juniors (12-28) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Lampropoulos' very good performance the ninth-placed Boca Juniors (12-28) was edged 71-70 in a derby game by the second-ranked Ferrocarril in the Sur group. He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 13 rebounds. Lampropoulos also added 3 assists. This season Lampropoulos has very high stats. He averages: 15.7ppg, 8.7rpg and 1.9apg. Lampropoulos used to play for the Greek U18 national team fourteen years ago.

   #6. Center Kostas Koufos (213-89, college: Ohio St., currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Sacramento Kings (26-41) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Sacramento Kings (26-41) lost 104-114 in San Antonio to the Spurs. Koufos had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds in 25 minutes. It was Kings' eighth consecutive loss in a row. This year Koufos' total stats are: 6.5ppg and 5.8rpg in 66 games. He is a naturalized American. Koufos is an international player who is currently on the senior Greek National Team roster. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

Former international guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83, also represented by Octagon Europe, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Brose Baskets Bamberg to win against the eighth-ranked Anadolu Efes (13-12) 87-68 in the Euroleague last Friday. Zisis recorded only 4 points and added 5 assists. Brose Baskets Bamberg (9-16) is placed 12th in the Euroleague. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Zisis has averaged so far 7.5ppg, 2.0rpg and 4.4apg. He used to play for the Greek national team two years ago.

   #8. Shooting guard Tyler Dorsey (193-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Arizona State University (7-11) crushing them 80-57 in the NCAA on Thursday night. Dorsey scored 21 points, had 9 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 32 minutes. The University of Oregon has quite an impressive 16-2 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Dorsey has relatively good stats this year: 13.3ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.8apg in 34 games. He is a naturalized American. Dorsey plays currently for the Greek national team. Interesting that he has never played in Greece.

   #9. International forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo (199-92, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Andorra (11-11) in their game against UCAM Murcia (8-15) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Antetokounmpo scored only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Andorra was crushed 77-53 in Murcia by the lower-ranked UCAM (#13). Antetokounmpo has averaged so far 6.8ppg and 3.4rpg. He is also in the roster of the Greek national team.

   #10. Power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis, currently plays in EuroCup) couldn't help Lokomotiv (5-1) in their game against Unicaja Malaga (3-3) in the Eurocup. Vougioukas cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only one point and grabbed 7 rebounds in 15 minutes. The league leader Lokomotiv was badly defeated 73-57 at home by the second-ranked Unicaja Malaga. Vougioukas has averaged so far 8.6ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.5apg in 17 games. He is a former international player as three years ago he still played for the Greek senior national team.

   #11. Former U19 international forward Konstantinos Mitoglou (208-96, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the Wake Forest in their game against the Virginia Tech in the NCAA. Despite his good performance on Wednesday night Mitoglou recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks. Mitoglou has averaged so far 8.9ppg and 6.1rpg. He used to play for the Greek U19 national team two years ago.

   #12. U20 international center Georgios Papagiannis (217-97, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Kostas Koufos. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention. Papagiannis contributed to a Sacramento Kings' victory against the Orlando Magic 120-115. He scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Papagiannis has averaged so far 1.3ppg and 1.3rpg. He is also in the roster of the Greek U20 national team.

   #13. Former U18 international center Ioannis Dimakopoulos (218-94, is currently at the American university) couldn't help the one of league's weakest teams Cal-Irvine in their game against the University of California - Davis in the NCAA, despite his good performance in Saturday night's game. Dimakopoulos scored 10 points and blocked 2 blocks in 23 minutes. But his team was edged 50-47. This year he has relatively solid stats: 11.0ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.2apg in 34 games. Dimakopoulos used to play for the Greek U18 national team five years ago.

   #14. Former U20 international swingman Anastasios Traianos (197-87, currently plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help Manchester Giants in their game against Scorchers in the British BBL. He recorded 6 points. His team was defeated 90-76. Traianos has averaged so far 5.3ppg and 3.0rpg. He used to play for the Greek U20 national team back in 2006.

   #15. Former U18 international swingman Haris Plioukas (200-89, currently plays in Germany) helped Hagen BG win their game against the sixth-ranked Dorsten crushing them 100-74 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) last Friday. He scored 9 points and added 4 passes in 25 minutes. Plioukas has reliable stats this year: 11.3ppg, 2.5rpg, 2.0apg and 1.2spg in 23 games. He used to play for the Greek U18 national team ten years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Greek passport but never been selected to any of Greek national teams:

   #1. Zach Auguste (208-C-93, agency: Pensack Sports, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) could not help Usak Sportlif in their last game. Despite Auguste's good performance the third-placed Usak Sportlif was crushed 110-82 on the road by the second-ranked JSF Nanterre in the group Q of FIBA Europe Cup. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds. Auguste also added and 3 steals in 27 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Auguste has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.8ppg, 8.5rpg and 1.5spg in four games he played so far. Auguste is a naturalized American. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

   #2. Nazareth Mitrou-Long (193-G-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Iowa St. to a victory against the Oklahoma State University (9-9) 92-83 in the NCAA in Thursday night's game. Mitrou-Long scored 14 points and added 3 assists in 36 minutes. The Iowa State University has a solid 13-6 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Mitrou-Long is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Iowa St.'s roster. He has very impressive stats this season: 15.5ppg, 4.7rpg, 2.8apg and 1.2spg in 33 games. Mitrou-Long has a dual citizenship: Greek and Canadian. Despite his Greek passport, Mitrou-Long previously played for the Canadian U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Greek team.

   #3. Patrick Calathes (207-F-85, college: St.Joseph's, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Acqua Vitasnella Cantu in a victory against the closely-ranked Juvecaserta (9-13) 85-79 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. Calathes recorded only 3 points in 13 minutes. Acqua Vitasnella Cantu (9-13) is placed 12th in the Serie A. Calathes has averaged so far 9.8ppg and 6.3rpg in eight games. He is a naturalized American. Calathes used to play for Costa Cafe Marousi in Greek league.

   #4. Georgios Angelou (185-G-94, currently studies in the States) contributed to a 2-point St.Francis, PA's victory against the Jacksonville University (11-3) 78-76 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 in Tuesday night's game. He recorded 10 points and added 5 assists. The St.Francis University (PA) has a solid 11-7 conference record this season. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. Angelou is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in St.Francis, PA's roster. Angelou has averaged so far 8.2ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.1apg.

   #5. Experienced Vassilis Kounas (194-G-84, currently plays in Cyprus) contributed to Apoel's victory against one of league's weakest teams Etha (4-15) 86-80 in a derby game in the Cypriot Division A last Sunday. He recorded 8 points and added 3 assists in 20 minutes. Cytavision Apoel Nicosia (10-9) is placed third in the Division A. Kounas' team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Kounas has been at the team for four years. He has averaged so far 6.3ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.5apg in 14 games. Kounas is another player who holds two passports: Greek and Cypriot.

   #6. Maximiliano Sole (198-F-88, agency: Duran International, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a Real Madrid II's victory against the eighth-ranked CBA Gran Canaria B 70-51 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Saturday night. He scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. This season Sole has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 8.3rpg, 2.6apg and 1.7spg. He has both Uruguayan and Greek nationalities.

   #7. Dimitris Agathangelidis (182-G-98, currently plays in Sweden) was not able to help Talje Knights (3-11) in their last game. Despite Agathangelidis' very good performance Talje Knights (#8) was badly defeated 95-78 in Lund by the higher-ranked (#5) IK Eos in the BEHS forts group. He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Agathangelidis also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 24 minutes. He has averaged so far 8.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4spg in 16 games. Agathangelidis also holds two passports: Greek and Swedish.

   #8. Aristides Koronides (188-PG-82, currently plays in Cyprus) was not able to secure a victory for Apollon in their game against Keravnos in the Cypriot Division A. He cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. Koronides recorded only 3 points and added 4 assists. His team was crushed by 54 points 96-42. He has averaged so far 5.9ppg, 2.2rpg and 4.0apg. Koronides has dual citizenship: Greek and Cypriot.

   #9. Theodoros Ioannidis (198-F-88, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Dorsten crushing them 100-74 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) on Friday night. Ioannidis scored only one point. He has averaged so far 3.3ppg and 2.5rpg.   



Vyrlas re-signs at Promitheas - 4 hours ago
ASP Promitheas Patras (A1) confirmed in their roster 18-year old power forward Panagiotis Vyrlas (208-99). He has played there for the last two seasons. But in four A1 games he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound.

AO Enosi ILIOU (C) re-signed 31-year old forward Aris Fountas (201-86). He has played there for the last two seasons.Among other achievements Fountas was voted to Eurobasket.com All- B League Honorable Mention in 2016. He is a very experienced player. GS Lavrio (A1) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old American forward D.J. Johnson (206-113kg-93). Johnson just graduated from Kansas State University (NCAA). He has played there for the last five years. In 34 games he recorded 11.3ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.5bpg last season. Johnson helped them to make it to the semifinals.
