The game between third ranked Doukas (18-4) and fourth ranked Faros (17-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Doukas was defeated by Faros in Keratsiniou 96-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Doukas. 25 personal fouls committed by Doukas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for guard Giannis Dimakos (192-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Fotis Vasilopoulos (187-86) helped adding 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Faros' coach Giannis Tzimas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Alexis Kiritsis (198-82) responded with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Faros have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 17-5 record. Doukas at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Faros are looking forward to face Ethnikos (#6) in Piraeus in the next round. Doukas' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Amyntas Dafnis.
A2 top team - Panionios (21-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eleventh ranked Doxa Pefkon (8-15) 64-56. It was a quality performance for Bosnian-British center Fahro Alihodzic (208-89, college: UAB) who led the winners and scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Petros Noeas accounted for 9 points and 8 rebounds. Panionios' coach Nikos Ekonomou used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Norwegian forward Karamo Jawara (203-91, college: N.C.Central) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds for Doxa Pefkon in the defeat. Newly promoted Panionios maintains first place with 21-2 record. Doxa Pefkon lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Panionios will play against Aiolos Astakou (#5) at home in the next round. Doxa Pefkon will play against Psychiko (#7) in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Twelfth-ranked Arkadikos (7-16) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Holargos (12-11) on Saturday. Holargos managed to secure only one-point victory 79-78. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was Nikos Angelopoulos who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Savvas Tsougarakis produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Holargos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ethnikos and Psychiko. Arkadikos lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Holargos will meet GS Larissas (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Arkadikos will play against Kavala and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Second ranked Iraklis (20-3) crushed at home 16th ranked Pagrati (2-21) by 30 points 94-64, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Dimitris Cheilaris who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds. Iraklis' coach Vangelis Alexandris felt very confident that he used 11 players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Iraklis. They maintain second place with 20-3 record behind leader Panionios. Pagrati lost their tenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Iraklis will face Irakleio (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Pagrati will play against AE Larissas and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 23: Irakleio lost to Kavala on the opponent's court 65-69. Amyntas Dafnis managed to outperform GS Larissas in a home game 79-62. Ethnikos recorded a loss to Aiolos Astakou on the road 84-70.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by Triantafillos Tzakopoulos of Holargos.

AE Larissas - Psychiko 69-71

A very interesting game took place in Larissas. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 9th ranked AE Larissas (10-13) to seventh ranked Psychiko (12-11) 71-69 on Saturday evening. Forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Vasileios Mouratos (193-97) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Psychiko's coach Nikos Remendelas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Icelandic center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Apollon Deligiorgis (192-93) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for AE Larissas. Four AE Larissas players scored in double figures. Psychiko moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ethnikos and Holargos. AE Larissas lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Psychiko's next round opponent will be Doxa Pefkon (#11) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Kavala - Irakleio 69-65

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourteenth ranked Kavala and 13th ranked Irakleio had identical 6-15 record. This time Kavala used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Irakleio 69-65 on Saturday night. Kavala made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Irakleio was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Polish-American guard Andy Mazurczak (188, college: Wisc.-Parkside, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 assists. Holargos - Arkadikos 79-78

Twelfth-ranked Arkadikos (7-16) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Holargos (12-11) on Saturday. Holargos managed to secure only one-point victory 79-78. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was forward Nikos Angelopoulos (205-84, agency: Interperformances) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Australian guard Triantafillos Tzakopoulos (185-85) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Savvas Tsougarakis (207-86) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and forward Giannis Prodromou (196-87) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Holargos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ethnikos and Psychiko. Arkadikos lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Holargos will meet GS Larissas (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Arkadikos will play against Kavala and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very predictable result in Athens where tenth ranked Amyntas Dafnis (11-12) defeated 15th ranked GS Larissas (5-18) 79-62 on Saturday. Amyntas Dafnis dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to GS Larissas' 26. Amyntas Dafnis forced 19 GS Larissas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for guard Ioannis Angelopoulos (194-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 6 assists. Point guard Leonidas Zoupas (182-82) helped adding 10 points and 6 assists. Amyntas Dafnis' coach Alexis Zavos let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Sotiris Gioulekas (203-79) responded with 23 points and forward Rafail Tsourakis (208, college: Benedictine, KS) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Amyntas Dafnis. They moved-up to ninth place. GS Larissas lost their third game in a row. GS Larissas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Amyntas Dafnis' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Doukas.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Doukas. 25 personal fouls committed by Doukas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for guard Giannis Dimakos (192-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Fotis Vasilopoulos (187-86) helped adding 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Faros' coach Giannis Tzimas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Five Faros and four Doukas players scored in double figures. Faros have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 17-5 record. Doukas at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Faros are looking forward to face Ethnikos (#6) in Piraeus in the next round. Center Kostas Macheras (205-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Estonian point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (179-93) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Ethnikos players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Aiolos Astakou maintains fifth place with 14-9 record. Loser Ethnikos keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Aiolos Astakou will face league's leader Panionios in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ethnikos will play at home against Faros (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
