Leader Panionios delivered the twenty second win on Saturday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Aiolos Astakou (14-10) 59-52 in Athens. Panionios made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Aiolos Astakou turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Nikos Barlos (203-79) who scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Bosnian-British center Fahro Alihodzic (208-89, college: UAB) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Andronikos Gizogiannis (200-83) who recorded 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panionios have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Panionios maintains first position with 22-2 record. Aiolos Astakou at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Panionios are looking forward to face Faros (#4) in Keratsiniou in the next round. Aiolos Astakou will play at home against Psychiko and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Piraeus was also worth to mention about. 4th ranked Faros (17-6) played at the court of sixth ranked Ethnikos (13-11). Ethnikos managed to secure a 5-point victory 91-86. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Faros. It was a good game for center Kostas Macheras (205-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Paraskeva Martzos contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) replied with 19 points and 5 assists for Faros. Ethnikos maintains sixth position with 13-11 record, which they share with Holargos and Psychiko. Faros at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Ethnikos will play against Amyntas Dafnis (#10) in Athens in the next round. Faros will play at home against the league's leader Panionios (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Athens. Local Pagrati (2-22) was outscored by tenth ranked AE Larissas (11-13) 96-74 on Saturday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Theodoros Tsiloulis who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists. AE Larissas moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Amyntas Dafnis. Pagrati lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. AE Larissas will meet at home Irakleio (#14) in the next round where they are favorite. Pagrati will play against Doxa Pefkon and hope to secure a win.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Doukas (#3) and Amyntas Dafnis (#9). Despite it looked like an easy game for Doukas, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Guest Amyntas Dafnis challenged much higher ranked Doukas giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by six points 77-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Amyntas Dafnis. The winners were led by Alexis Kiritsis who scored that evening 24 points and 6 rebounds. Doukas' coach Savvas Simeonidis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Doukas maintains third position with 19-4 record having four points less than leader Panionios. Newly promoted Amyntas Dafnis keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Doukas' next round opponent will be Holargos (#8) on the road where they are favorite. Amyntas Dafnis will play against Ethnikos and hope to win that game.

Rest of the games of round 24 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Iraklis defeated Irakleio in Thessaloniki 61-57. GS Larissas was beaten by Holargos at home 73-82. Kavala lost to Arkadikos on the opponent's court 58-74. Psychiko managed to outperform Doxa Pefkon in a home game 83-66.
The best stats of 24th round was 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists by Christian Koutras of GS Larissas.

Pagrati - AE Larissas 74-96

The game with biggest result difference took place in Athens. Local Pagrati (2-22) was outscored by tenth ranked AE Larissas (11-13) 96-74 on Saturday night. AE Larissas shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 59.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Pagrati's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of guard Theodoros Tsiloulis (190-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists and point guard Michalis Politis (190-88) who added 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four AE Larissas players scored in double figures. AE Larissas' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was forward Grigoris Ralatos (202-86) with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Iaonnis Lekakis (196-90, college: Rochester, MI) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. AE Larissas moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Amyntas Dafnis. Pagrati lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. There was no surprise when 14th ranked Irakleio (6-17) was defeated at home by second ranked Iraklis (21-3) 61-57. Iraklis forced 19 Irakleio turnovers. The winners were led by forward Vasilis Angelakopoulos (203-79) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) supported him with 17 points. Iraklis' coach Vangelis Alexandris allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 12 points and 9 rebounds by forward Ioannis Lianos (202-85) did not help to save the game for Irakleio. Serbian center Damir Latovic (204-80) added 15 points and 6 rebounds. Iraklis have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 21-3 record behind leader Panionios. Newly promoted Irakleio keeps the fourteenth place with 17 games lost. Iraklis' next round opponent will be Kavala (#13) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Irakleio will play against AE Larissas and hope to win that game.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Arkadia where 12th ranked Kavala (7-16) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Arkadikos (8-16) 74-58. Rather predictable result in Athens where seventh ranked Psychiko (13-11) beat 11th ranked Doxa Pefkon (8-16) 83-66. It was a great shooting night for Psychiko especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (195-90) who scored that evening 24 points and forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists by Norwegian forward Karamo Jawara (203-91, college: N.C.Central) did not help to save the game for Doxa Pefkon. Guard Nikolaos Diplaros (190-97) added 10 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Psychiko moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ethnikos and Holargos. Doxa Pefkon lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Psychiko's next round opponent will be higher ranked Aiolos Astakou (#5) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Doxa Pefkon will play against Pagrati (#16) and hope to win that game.

Leader Panionios delivered the twenty second win on Saturday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Aiolos Astakou (14-10) 59-52 in Athens. Panionios made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Aiolos Astakou turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Nikos Barlos (203-79) who scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Bosnian-British center Fahro Alihodzic (208-89, college: UAB) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Andronikos Gizogiannis (200-83) who recorded 12 points and the former international point guard Fanis Koumpouras (185-83) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panionios have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Panionios maintains first position with 22-2 record. Aiolos Astakou at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Panionios are looking forward to face Faros (#4) in Keratsiniou in the next round. Aiolos Astakou will play at home against Psychiko and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
