There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in A1.

A1 top team - Olympiacos (23-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed fifth ranked PAOK (13-11) in Athens 84-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of PAOK. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. PAOK managed to win third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded PAOK 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Serbian center Nikola Milutinov (212-94) who led his team to a victory with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Thomas Zevgaras (201-1) contributed with 14 points for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St.) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds for PAOK. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 23-1 record, which they share with Panathinaikos. PAOK at the other side keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Olympiacos is looking forward to face Promitheas (#8) in Patras in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PAOK will play at home against Koroivos and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Kolossos HH (12-12) and Lavrio (10-14), which took place in Rodou. 6th ranked Kolossos HH lost at home to ninth ranked Lavrio 63-79. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds and Ashley Hamilton who added 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Langston Hall (193-91, college: Mercer) with 13 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lavrio moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Promitheas. Kolossos HH at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with AGOR. Lavrio will play against higher ranked Aris (#4) in Thessaloniki in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kolossos HH will play on the road against AEK Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game between second ranked Panathinaikos (23-1) and 10th ranked Aiolos Trikallon (9-15) in Athens on Monday ended with biggest points difference. Panathinaikos outscored guests from Trikallon 93-63. The winners were led by Kenny Gabriel who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even 15 points and 4 assists by Kelsey Barlow did not help to save the game for Aiolos Trikallon. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panathinaikos have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Olympiacos. Loser Aiolos Trikallon keeps the tenth place with 15 games lost. Panathinaikos will meet AGOR (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Aiolos Trikallon will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#14) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 24: AGOR beat Koroivos on the road 78-67. Bottom-ranked Doxa Lefkadas lost to AEK Athens on its own court 64-68. Kymis was outscored by Promitheas in Patras 57-81. Aris managed to beat Apollon Patras at home 79-70.

Panathinaikos - Trikalla 93-63

The game between second ranked Panathinaikos (23-1) and 10th ranked Aiolos Trikallon (9-15) in Athens on Monday ended with biggest points difference. Panathinaikos outscored guests from Trikallon 93-63. Panathinaikos looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Aiolos Trikallon's players. The winners were led by American Kenny Gabriel (209-89, college: Auburn) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international Nikos Pappas (194-90) supported him with 14 points. Even 15 points and 4 assists by American guard Kelsey Barlow (196-91, college: Ill.-Chicago) did not help to save the game for Aiolos Trikallon. Naturalized French Angelo Tsagarakis (191-84) added 13 points and 5 assists.

Koroivos - AGOR 67-78

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked AGOR (12-12) beat on the road 11th ranked Koroivos (7-17) 78-67 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American players dominated the game. AGOR moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kolossos HH. Koroivos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 17 games lost. They share it with Kymis. Doxa Lefkadas - AEK Athens 64-68

Very expected game when 14th ranked Doxa Lefkadas (4-20) lost at home to third ranked AEK Athens (18-6) 68-64 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-64. The winners were led by the former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Serbian Dusan Sakota (210-86, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds by Montenegrin Ivan Maras (207-86) did not help to save the game for Doxa Lefkadas. American guard Alex Harris (196-86, agency: Diamond Sports) added 18 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. AEK Athens maintains third position with 18-6 record having five points less than leader Olympiacos. Newly promoted Doxa Lefkadas stay dead last with 20 lost games. Promitheas - Kymis 81-57

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Promitheas (10-14) rolled over 12th ranked Kymis (7-17) in Patras 81-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Promitheas. Kymis managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Promitheas forced 19 Kymis turnovers. The winners were led by American guard McKenzie Moore (198-92, college: UTEP, agency: Two Points) who scored that evening 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Nikos Gikas (186-91, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Promitheas players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by forward Alexandros Sigounas (200-88, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Kymis. Bulgarian Chavdar Kostov (195-88, agency: Interperformances) added 7 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Newly promoted Promitheas maintains eighth position with 10-14 record, which they share with Lavrio. Kymis lost third consecutive game. Kymis at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eleventh place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Koroivos.
