Here is the weekly review of the top performing Greek players, who play currently abroad.

Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo
#1. This week's number one is an international swingman Giannis Antetokounmpo (211-94, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Milwaukee Bucks (42-40) in their last game. Despite Antetokounmpo's very good performance the Milwaukee Bucks (42-40) lost 100-106 on the road to the Toronto Raptors. He had a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 15 rebounds. Antetokounmpo also added 7 assists in 42 minutes on the court. It's Antetokounmpo's fourth season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Antetokounmpo averages: 23.0ppg, 8.8rpg, 5.4apg, 1.8bpg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 56.4%(628-1114), 3FGP: 27.0% and FT: 76.6% in 82 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Nigerian. Antetokounmpo is currently a member of the Greek senior national team.

Michael Bramos
Michael Bramos
#2. Second place goes to former international swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH, currently plays in Italy). He was the major contributor in an Umana Venezia's victory against the 11th-ranked Brescia (12-15) 84-79 in the Italian Serie A last Saturday. Bramos scored 12 points, had 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Umana Reyer Venezia (18-9) is placed second in the Serie A. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Bramos' overall stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 51.4% and FT: 73.5%. He is a naturalized American. Bramos played for the Greek national team in 2013. Strangely he has never played in Greece.

Ian Vougioukas
Ian Vougioukas
#3. The Greek player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis, currently plays in VTB United League). Vougioukas led his Russian team Lokomotiv to a victory over the 11th-ranked Kalev/Cramo (5-18) 86-75 in the VTB United League on Sunday night. He was MVP of the game. Vougioukas scored 18 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 20 minutes. Lokomotiv Kuban (18-5) is placed fourth in group A. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the VTB United League Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Vougioukas has relatively good stats this year: 10.2ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 59.0%(79-134) and FT: 79.8% in 22 games. Former Olympiacos S.F.P. He scored 9 points and added 3 passes. Fenerbahce Istanbul (24-2) is placed first in the BSL. It was his team's 17th consecutive victory in a row. He is also Greek national team player.

Nikolaos Zisis
Nikolaos Zisis
#5. An experienced former international guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83, also represented by Octagon Europe, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked ALBA Berlin (18-12) 88-71 in the German BBL last Sunday. Zisis recorded 11 points and added 5 assists in 26 minutes. Brose Baskets Bamberg (27-3) is placed second in the BBL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. He used to play for the Greek national team two years ago.

Fotios Lampropoulos

U20 international center Georgios Papagiannis (217-97, currently plays in NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Phoenix Suns (24-58) crushing them 129-104 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. He recorded 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 27 minutes. The Sacramento Kings have 32-50 record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NBA. It's Papagiannis' first year with the team. This season Papagiannis' total stats are: 5.6ppg and 4.0rpg in 22 games. He is also Greek U20 national team player.

Stratos Perperoglou
Stratos Perperoglou

Perperoglou scored 5 points in 19 minutes. FC Barcelona was badly defeated 76-59 in Valencia by the second-ranked Basket. Perperoglou has averaged so far 8.3ppg and 2.6rpg in 21 games. He plays currently for the Greek national team.

Dimitrios Katsivelis
Dimitrios Katsivelis
#9. Former international guard Dimitrios Katsivelis (196-91, currently plays in VTB United League) was not able to secure a victory for Astana (9-15) in their last game. Despite his good performance the eighth-placed Astana (9-15) was edged 90-87 at home by the higher-ranked (#3) Khimki in the group A of VTB United League. Katsivelis was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 32 minutes. It was Astana's fifth consecutive loss in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the VTB United League. Katsivelis has averaged so far 7.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 4.7apg and 1.3spg in 21 games. He used to play for the Greek national team four years ago.

Leonidas Kaselakis
Leonidas Kaselakis
#10. Small forward Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dimitrios Katsivelis. But that was another game of his team in VTB United League which we would like to mention. Kaselakis couldn't help Astana (9-15) in their game against Unics Kazan (15-9). He scored 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 29 minutes. Astana (#8) lost 78-83 in Kazan to the higher-ranked (#5) Unics in the group A of VTB United League. Kaselakis has averaged so far 7.3ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.3apg in 24 games. He is a former U20 international player as seven years ago he still played for the Greek national team.

#11. Former U20 international swingman Anastasios Traianos (197-87, currently plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help Manchester Giants in their game against Cheshire Phoenix in the British BBL, despite his very good performance on Friday night. He scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 27 minutes. But his team lost 83-93. Traianos has averaged so far 5.3ppg and 2.7rpg in 27 games. He used to play for the Greek U20 national team eleven years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Greek passport but never been selected to any of Greek national teams:

#1. Nikolaos Stylianou (198-F-88, college: W.Texas A&M, currently plays in Cyprus) led Keravnos to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Enosis (8-12) crushing them 107-47 in the Cypriot Division A last Wednesday. Stylianou scored 14 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Keravnos Strovolou (14-1) is placed first in the Division A. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. Stylianou has reliable stats this season: 10.9ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.9apg. He has a dual citizenship: Greek and Cypriot.

#2. Trian Iliadis (190-G-89, college: ODU, currently plays in Australia) led Wanneroo to a victory over the leader Redbacks (5-1) 90-83 in the Australian State League (second division) in Thursday night's game. Iliadis was the top player that evening. He recorded 24 points, 4 assists and 4 steals (made all of his six free throws). It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group SBL. Joondalup City Wanneroo Wolves (4-1) are placed third. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Iliadis is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Wanneroo's roster. Iliadis has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.8ppg, 4.0rpg, 4.8apg and 2.8spg. Iliadis is another player who holds two passports: Greek and Australian. Despite his Greek nationality, Iliadis previously played for the Australian university national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Greek team.

#3. Zach Auguste (208-C-93, agency: Pensack Sports, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to a Usak Sportlif's victory against one of league's weakest teams Balikesir (6-20) 88-80 in the Turkish BSL on Saturday night. Auguste scored 8 points. Muratbey Usak Sportlif Basketbol (8-18) is placed 13th in the BSL. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. It's Auguste's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 11.8ppg and 7.6rpg. Auguste is a naturalized American. Apparently he has never played in Greece.

#4. Experienced Vassilis Kounas (194-G-84, currently plays in Cyprus) could not help one of league's weakest teams Apoel (11-9) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Kounas' good performance Apoel was defeated 87-79 on the road by the second-ranked AEK. He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Kounas also added 5 assists. Kounas is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Apoel's roster. He has averaged so far 7.6ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.6apg. Kounas has both Greek and Cypriot nationalities.

#5. Grant Fiorentinos (208-F/C-92, college: SIU Edwardsville, currently plays in New Zealand) was not able to help Hawks (1-5) in their last game on Friday. Despite Fiorentinos' very good performance Hawks were defeated 101-87 in Southland by the higher-ranked Sharks (#3). He was the top scorer with 21 points. Fiorentinos also added 3 assists. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Fiorentinos has very high stats. He averages: 15.8ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.2apg. Fiorentinos also holds two passports: British and Greek. Despite his Greek nationality, Fiorentinos previously played for the British U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Greek team.
