The Regular Season in A2 is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games and favorites losing the games.

The biggest surprise took place in Holargos where host Holargos (14-13) beat league's leader Panionios (23-4) 76-64 on Wednesday evening. Holargos made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Holargos had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Panionios helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was center Apostolos Koutroulias (206-76) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Akis Kallinikidis (197-77) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Israeli guard Marios Matalon (186-89, college: Wyoming) who recorded 13 points and 4 assists. Panionios' coach Nikos Ekonomou rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Holargos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ethnikos. Newly promoted Panionios dropped to the second position with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Iraklis. Panionios will play next round against Arkadikos trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Holargos will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Psychiko in Athens.
Important game to mention about took place in Arkadia. Eleventh ranked Arkadikos (10-17) saved a 2-point victory at home edging higher ranked Ethnikos (14-13) 89-87 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It was a good game for Lithuanian guard Dovydas Redikas (192-92) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Giannis Prodromou contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Paraskeva Martzos (197-85) answered with 18 points for Ethnikos. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Arkadikos maintains eleventh place with 10-17 record. Ethnikos at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Holargos. Arkadikos will play against league's second-placed Panionios in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
