FEB Finals: Eclipse Jet/MyGuide Repeat As FEB Champions! - Jun 1, 2009
Sunday afternoon in the deciding game between Eclipse Jet/MyGuide and Eiffel Towers, the FEB trophy remained in Amsterdam for at least another year, as Eclipse Jet/MG were able to capitalize on a comfortable lead and having the necessary resistance and intangibles to prevent Eiffel from making a last moment push, winning Game #7 by the score of 83-71. It was the end of a series what became a sort of a sideshow, laced with protests and controversy over the handing out of the winning prizes. But nonetheless, when it all was said and done, Eclipse Jet/MG were the ones left standing as once again proving themselves as the best team Dutch basketball has to offer. It was the club's third FEB title in six seasons and the seventh title overal.
In a sequel to last season's Game #7 finals, Eclipse Jet/MG ace Teddy Gipson (193-G/F-80, agency: 540 Sports, college: Arkansas) once again stepped up with making big shots in the clutch and a strong start, scoring 13 pts. in the 1st quarter to help stake Eclipse Jet/MG to a 29-18 1st quarter lead, then in the last five minutes coming up with a clutch three-pointer and a layup off a CC Harrison (194-G-76, agency: Court Side, college: N.Carolina St.) to put the game out of reach for Eiffel. Eclipse Jet/MG led at one point in the game by the score of 64-44, kept making it difficult for Eiffel to get witin striking distance. Eiffel could get no closer than within 8 pts. Eclipse Jet/MG also made their free throws (21 of 22 total), were stronger on the boards (40-31 difference), took care of the ball extremely well (only 8 turnovers), and held Eiffel to only 39% FG. Gipson led all scorers with 26 pts., Harrison added 21 and FEB MVP Peter Van Paassen (210-C/F-78, agency: Court Side, college: St.Bonaventure) added a double-double of 14 pts. and 14 rebounds. Taron Downey (186-G-83, college: Wake Forest) led Eiffel in scoring with 23 pts.
Congratulations once again to Eclipse Jet/MyGuide and to head coach Arik Shivek and his coaching staff.

Dutch Cup for Eiffel Towers Den Bosch - Mar 30, 2009
Eiffel Towers Den Bosch have conquered again the Dutch Cup. Eiffel Towers defeated in the finals Eclipse Jet-MG Amsterdam 70-64 in Almere. The teams kept it close the whole game, the biggest difference was 7 points. It finally all came down to the last minute. The champion and leader of the league began in the last sixty seconds at 64-63 after a three-point of Orien Greene, but Anthony Richardson answered from downtown and after Avis Wyatt lose sight, was the pressure at Amsterdam. There were fouls made, but Downey and Oliver had no problems to shoot the free throws.
'My players refused to lose,' stated Eiffel Towers coach Don Beck, ' A very important team victory with a view to the upcoming play-offs.'
Amsterdam coach Arik Shivek was very quickly with his analysis. ' When the opponent shoots more three-pointers than you free throws, it stops rapidly.'

Anthony Richardson (201-F-83, agency: 540 Sports, college: Florida St.) provided 24 points, while Kees Akerboom (200-F-83, agency: Court Side) added 11 and David Jackson (195-G-78, agency: Edge Sports, college: Oregon) 10 for the winners. Orien Greene and Teddy Gipson (193-G/F-80, agency: 540 Sports, college: Arkansas) responded both with 16 points for Eclipse Jet-MG Amsterdam in the losing effort.
