We understand his situation, it is still not easy to live in such a great distance from your family.

I recently had the opportunity to meet with Craig Moore (191-G-86, agency: Interperformances, college: Northwestern), the shooting guard of DeFriesland Aris and we started to talk about his time at Northwestern, his move to Holland and his thoughts about his team DeFriesland Aris. The former graduate of Northwestern played 9 games and averaged 12.4ppg, 3.7apg and 1.9spg this season in the Dutch league sofar.
What was your childhood like? I come from a sports family, my parents, uncles, cousins, and younger brother all have either played or play college sports. So one can imagine I spent most of the time at sporting events.
Who have been some of the most influential people in your playing career? My Father and Uncle Hank were the most influential people in molding my game from a early age. Once I got older I had many coaches that helped me improve my game, most notably my collegiate coach Bill Carmody and his assistants Mitch Henderson and Tavaras Hardy.
How would you describe your experience playing for Northwestern over the past four years? I had an incredible experience at Northwestern, made great friendships with my teams and coaches, which will last the rest of my life. I am extremely fortunate to be apart of program like Northwestern.
What has been the highlight of your basketball career at Northwestern? The highlight of my career at Northwestern was my entire senior year. We really pulled it all together that year had some big wins on the road (MSU, Purdue) and made it to the NIT. Maybe could have made the NCAA Tournament with a win or two more, but overall it was an incredible year.
Your coach, Pete Miller is obviously an important person in your transition to Leeuwarden. How has he helped you get accustomed? Coach Miller is great, I couldn't have asked for a better coach to begin my career in Europe. He is helping me figure out how to translate my game to the professional level.
Still a bit homesick or? Every once in awhile I get homesick. I think everyone that's away from home gets homesick a little bit, however Leeuwarden is a lovely city, and De Friesland Aris is filled with wonderful which make you feel like you have a home away from home.
How do you like Holland so far? I have not gotten to experience much of Holland yet. I have basically stuck to Leeuwarden thus far. It is a beautiful city and I am happy with my experience. However it has been cloudy alot lately I could do with out that.
How does Coach Miller compare to previous coaches youve had? Coach Miller is by far the nicest coach I have ever had. I am use to Coaches that get on your back and let you know when your making mistake. Coach Miller is the type of Coach that allows you to learn from your own mistake. Also at Northwestern, we ran the Princeton Offense which is a very strict offense, whereas Coach Miller like his players to have a little more freedom to make plays.
DeFriesland Aris is a team that relies mostly on young players. How much did you know about DeFriesland Aris and your role before you came to the club? When I made the decision to come play for Aris I spoke with Gert (our GM) and Coach Miller to get a sense of the team and how they saw me fitting into the team before I came to Leeuwarden. So I would say I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting into before I came.
How has learning a new style of play been so far? And what are your goals this season? It has been fun learning a new style. Being versatile in the ways you can play the game of basketball only make you a better player. I don't set goals for myself, I feel that individual goals can interfere with the team goal of winning games.
Who are the team leaders on and off the court? I don't think there is any so called captain on our team. I feel as though we all lead and help the team in different aspects of the game. We all have a mutual respect for one another and feel comfortable constructively criticizing each other in the hopes that it will help the team.
What gives you the most satisfaction on the basketball court? Winning a hard fought battle on the road. There is nothing better then playing on the road in a packed house and being able to come out of there with a big. I will say not far behind that is making 3 pointers though, gives me great joy.
About your Blog, I saw its not on the net anymore, I liked reading it but whats the reason? too controversial? Haha No, not too controversial. Honestly, I felt like my words were being taken the wrong way. It was never my intention to hurt anyone's feelings or anything like that. Just wanted to write some friendly banter/humor that my family and friends back home could follow and enjoy. When I saw it was being blown out of proportion and people were taken offense to much jokes and observations. I decided to cut my loses and retire.
DeFriesland Aris had a remarkable turnaround over the past two weeks (3 wins in a row). How did you contribute to it? Coach Miller always talks about playing as a team. I attribute our turn around to just that, the last three games we have played really well together getting everyone involved and making the extra pass. More importantly we have played together on defense, helping each other out and making the correct rotations giving us a better chance to stop our opponents.
What is your opinion about the next game against GasTerra Flames who are in first place GasTerra Flames have been consistently good all year as their record show. They have 5 guys on the court that can all score which is hard to stop and they play really well together. They are a very hard team to stop. However I still feel like we haven't played our best basketball yet. If we keep playing together like we have the last 3 games and individually we make the shots I know we can. We will also be pretty hard to stop. Craig, thanks for the time to do this interview and good luck this season.
