Tuesdaynight-game controlled by Dutch referees - Nov 3, 2009 (by Claudia vanGorp)
Tonight Zorg and Zekerheid Leiden played their game in Den Bosch against the Eiffel Towers Den Bosch. The Leiden team won one more game so far and was 3rd in rankings while the Eiffel Towers Den Bosch team is about to get on a roll. A dreadfull game with mostly bad or worse calls on both sides controlled the game while players on both sides tried to entertain the Den Bosch crowd.
To both the referees and Zorg and Zekerheid Leiden, Eiffel Towers Den Bosch was unstoppable at the end [read more]
Harvey van Stein, "I'm working hard to get back as soon as possible" - Nov 2, 2009 (by Fred Roggen)

I had a change to talk with forward Harvey Van Stein (197-F-78, college: Cent.Conn.St.) of Landstede Zwolle, who had to postpone his comeback in the Dutch league with Landstede Zwolle until 2010. The former National Teamplayer tore a knee tendon during practice in August, and has been operated. It's clear that his team is missing the forward, but Harvey Van Stein is confident about his return, his knee is responding well to treatment and if rehabilitation goes to plan, Van Stein could be back on court around January 2010.
Growing up, besides basketball were there any other sports you enjoyed playing? Tennis was the other sport I really enjoyed playing. I started playing basketball when I was 9 years old, but before that I played tennis. I was talented and I loved playing it, but I was better playing doubles than singles. I basically found out early I had to play in a team.
And glancing back at college for a second. Do you have any favorite moments, games, anything in particular that you like to look back on? Winning our Conference Championship and going to the NCAA Tournament were really big moments for me. All the hard work that we put in, the running, the practices, the individuals, the weightlifting, even the bricks really paid off. Overall college was a great experience for me. Even though I realized it later on in my career college really prepared me for the next step professionally and personally.
You had a steady Pro Basketball career having played in countries like Finland, Spain, United Kingdom and Switzerland. How is it to be playing in Holland again? It feels great to be back in Holland. Landstede Zwolle offered me and my family a great opportunity. We decided to take that. That makes it tough to deal with not being able to play right now. Im really eager! Playing in all those countries was a great, though. My wife and I had some great experiences and we made some great friendships.
How are things going? How's the knee? It never goes as fast as I want it to go. Probably, not until, Im back on the court playing. But rehab is going good. Im ahead of schedule. This means Im a couple of steps ahead of the protocol. Im walking normally and bending the knee goes easier each day. Right now I can bend my knee between 110 and 120 degrees. Overall I feel stronger and more confident each day.
What bothers you right now? Are you in any kind of pain? No I dont feel pain. It is sensitive sometimes after a long day of workouts and walking.
What do the treatments consist of right now? I finished CPM workouts. This machine bends your knee to a certain degree of motion. To get even more range of motion I started riding the bike. And to get more strength in my quadriceps Im doing muscle flexes and straight leg raises.
It must be important to have a positive attitude at the moment about what's coming next? Working hard to get to that next step is all Im focusing on with this injury. My ultimate goal, of course, is getting back on the court competing, but in order to get to that I have to take it step by step. Like I said before its never fast enough.
Is this the longest period of inactivity that you can remember? Most definitely!!! And it is frustrating. But its the reality right now. Im working hard to get back as soon as possible.
When will you be able to play the remaining games of the regular season? Its hard to make an estimation right now. But considering protocol and talking to my physiotherapist the goal is to play the remaining games of the regular season from the end of January or beginning of February.
Do you have any future plans as far as playing basketball? Yes, winning a championship with Landstede Zwolle!
Harvey, thanks for the interview and hope to see you back on the court in January.
Last night Eiffel Towers Den Bosch played against the Upstairs Weert.
Eiffel Towers Den Bosch came out strong and agressive with a nice m2m-game and left no room for Weert to resist.
Coach Don Beck and his men never gave their leading position away. Leading player that night was Djoenie Steenvoorde (195-G/F-81, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who was on absolute fire.
With 4/7 2pnt, 3/3 3pnt, 6/7 ft's and 8 rebounds in 32 minutes it was safe to say Steenvoorde was the MVP of the night [read more]

Another leading player that night was Jerome Beasley (209-F-80, college: N.Dakota). Agressive in the paint, giving Upstairs Weert player Niels Vorenhout (202-F-80, agency: Court Side) a hard time, he added 16 points and 7 rebounds for the Eiffel Towers Den Bosch team. Knowing Coach Don Beck had to do without 3 injured players (Anthony Richardson, Jos Frederiks (194-F/G-76, agency: Court Side) and Rogier Jansen (188-G-84, agency: Court Side)) one could say Eiffel Towers Den Bosch is reaching for the top-position in ranking again as all three injured players are expected to be back in the game within a few weeks aswell.
