Netherlands opened their exhibition series against Puerto Rico with victory. The Dutch team earned a 6-point victory. The teams are slated to play two more games in the series. Leonie Kooij (187-F-86) scored 28 points to lead the winners. Puerto Rico opened the game with ten unanswered points. Netherlands however responded with a massive 22:0 run that bridged the first and the second quarter to pull ahead. Netherlands secured a 42:31 halftime lead. The margin grew at 21-point mark in the third quarter 52:31. Puerto Rico managed to restore the intrigue in the game. The Latin American team got within three points 63:66 in the fourth frame. But Netherlands stayed calm and eked out a tough victory at the end. Marianne Van der Hoek (180-F-90) accounted for 10 points in the victory. Carla Cortijo (173-G-87, college: Texas) answered with 24 points for Puerto Rico. Carla Escalera (180-PF-84) finished with 10 points in defeat.

Connecticut Sun waived 24-year old Dutch ex-international forward Chatilla Van Grinsven (190-89, college: St.Joseph's).
Van Grinsven just graduated from Saint Joseph's University and it is her first season in pro basketball. Her team won Atlantic 10 Tournament. Van Grinsven received All-Atlantic 10 1st Team award in 2013 at her college time.

Connecticut Sun waived 24-year old Dutch ex-international forward Chatilla Van Grinsven (190-89, college: St.Joseph's). Van Grinsven just graduated from Saint Joseph's University and it is her first season in pro basketball. Her team won Atlantic 10 Tournament. Van Grinsven received All-Atlantic 10 1st Team award in 2013 at her college time. Van Grinsven was also a member of Dutch international program for some years. She played for Dutch Senior National Team in 2010 and previously for U18 National Team between 2007 and 2008. Van Grinsven represented Holland at the European Championships U20 in Serbia two years ago. Her stats at that event were 8 games: 12.6ppg, Reb-3 (11.6rpg), 1.3apg, Blocks-5 (1.4bpg), FGP: 36.0%, 3PT: 33.3%, FT: 70.3%. Van Grinsven has played also in Belgium (BBC Kangoeroes-Boom).
