The teams stayed close throughout the opening frame, in the second preparation game for the European Championship in the B Division. Holland were more consistent as they earned a 20-25 lead at the first break. Finland denied the deficit and surged ahead midway through the second frame, but the Dutch squad went into the locker rooms up by one point 42-43. The lead continued to change hands throughout the third frame. Finland had the last laugh in the period as they entered the final stanza up by two points 59-57.
Neither side was able to clear off in the final quarter. Holland trailed also in the majority of the fourth quarter, but managed to tie the game at 73-73. The team of head coach Johan Roijakkers made some important baskets and won the game in overtime. Shane Hammink (198-G-94) made one free throw at the end of the game for the final success 79-80.
