U17 TURKEY - U17 HOLLAND 60-67

Holland celebrated 67-60 victory against Turkey in Day One in Amsterdam. The host of U17 FIBA World Championship had very good first half of the game and later managed to keep the lead for rest of the way. Both teams are placed to Preliminary Group B, together with Spain, Japan, Australia and Brazil. Four teams will advance to the Quarterfinals. Isabella Slim (181-F-95) was a key player for the hosts with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Britt Zappeij (184-C-95) followed her with 13 points and 7 rebounds, while Emese Hof (188-C-96) added 10 pts and 8 boards. In Turkey, Hulya Coklar (188-C-95) had a great game with 22 points and 14 rebs. She was the MVP of this meeting with valuation 30. Second scorer in Turkey was Busra Akbas (171-PG-95) with 19 points (7 rebs). Quarters: 17-11, 20-16, 13-16, 17-17. Holland will try to beat Japan on Saturday for the second straight win. Turkey will play against Spain.

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Eredivisie. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Binnenland (1-1) in Utrecht on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Amazone (1-1) 78-73. Amazone is looking forward to face CTO (#6) in Amsterdam in the next round. Binnenland will play on the road against Lekdetec.nl in Bemmel and it may be a tough game between close rivals. American Kayla Bernsen (190-C) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Den Helder and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 1. The center had the game-high 25 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Den Helder in her team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team CTO (#6, 0-1) with 40-point margin 94-54.
