Dozy den Helder claimed its first victory in the opening of the season, away from home in Bemmel where the champion of many years held on to claim a 67-71 win.
Besides the first win of the ambitious team from coach Frank de Wit it was the come-back as well from talented center Tamlyn de Groot who was out with severe kneeproblems for over ten months. After both teams got off to a quick start, resulting in 22-20 lead for the home team after ten the guests managed to get away, holding the hometeam to 9 points for the quarter!
After the break the cupwinner got back in the game behind solid play from new center Irma Schouten, and a nice all around offensive game from topforward Lisanne de Jonge who shows she managed to hold on to her form after an intense but high level summer in which she was a big factor for the Dutch U18 (4th) and U17 (8th) teams that had good runs at the Europeans and Worlds respectively.
The gap that was as big as ten points was closed on good offensive work of de Jonge and Yordi Kathmann but proved to be too large. Den Helder held on to their lead, and ahd four players in double digits, and one other only missing that by a point.
Fieke Ligthart led all den Helder scorers in her first game after leaving Bemmel with 18. Maaike Klein (177-G-90) had 15, Randell van der Lee 12 and Soraya Visser had 10.
