Both teams having new coaches on the reigns, it was interesting to see who had the better start in his first game with a womens team on the highest level. It turned out to be Joost van Rangelrooij who replaced Pieter Kodde after two second places in playoffs, but smart recruiting made the team a strong force and a favourite to repeat its trip to the finals.
The guests had the better start of the game that featured the first three men officiating crew in the competition and both referees and teams had some problems to adjust. Binnenland managed to let that bother the least, slipping away to a double digit lead after ten minutes. Both teams changed to zone defenses for the second stanza, but the hometeam, led by Marlous Nieuwveen who looks for her third titlerun in a row, didn't manage to crawl any closer. Instead it was 25-38 at the break. Binnenland quickly erupted to 36-52 but wasn't able to hold on to that lead. Grasshoppers may have had hopes going in the final period but a 0-8 run swiped that away. After 40-62 the game was over and the final minutes were merely for statistics.
Leading scorers: Zera Butter (179-G-92), Rachel RoubehieFissa 16, Eline Kasius 14, Leonie Kooij 12 Marlous Nieuwveen had 14 points and 9 boards for the hometeam.
