Only in its third year the Rinus de Jong Invitational, has become a truly successful basketball event on the European calender.

The idea of the Rinus de Jong Invitational was to attract top European teams to Dutch soil and pitt them against some of the best Dutch players in order to offer them the necessary level of competition to further their basketball development. For the younger but not less talented U12-players we exceeded the event schedule with another competition for this category of players. Teams from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany will participate.

In the meantime we invite the Dutch basketball fan to get acquainted to the extremely hight level of the international game of basketball. Alongside the tournament, our goal was to involve the beginning basketball player too. In what way? By having a basketball clinic for all boys and girls who were interested to meet with basketball as a play that brings fun: the Schelde Sports Kids Experience. To allow the young boys and girls the opportunity to enjoy themselves and learn the basics of our this wonderful game.
Coach Clinic

Also alongside the tournaments and youth clinic, the Rinus de Jong Invitational hosts a coach clinic, where the guest speakers are top professional coaches. Thus, also giving the opportunity to our coaches of further developing their careers and gaining more knowledge of the game of basketball. Top lecturers, like Raoul Korner (Eiffel Towers Den Bosch), former world champion Vlada Vukoicic (Mega Vizura Belgrade) and Chris Sparks (Wilbraham & Monson Academy, USA) were brought in to discuss the idiosyncrasies of the game in the first two years.

The coaching clinic was in its first two years a great success. Last year attracting 180 coaches from the Netherlands and Belgium, generating a positive reaction from their community. This year we have two meetings for coaches: on December30. aclinic for liscensed coaches and the day before a workshop for man and women, boys and girls who are busy to make their first steps in a career as a basketball coach. Or for those who are considering to start one.

OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT
As the third edition of the Rinus de Jong Invitational approaches with rapid strides our goals are to bring our event to a higher level; to improve the level of the game, to make it an event what is a place to be in the days between Christmas and New Years Eve for all those who love the wonderfull game of basketball.

TEAMS
Six teams will participating this year in our competition for players born in 1992 or later. Thus, again, allowing our top youth potentials to compete against some of the best teams from around the world!

As you can see in the mean time the Rinus de Jong Invitational is more than just a series of basketball games being played for a few days; its really a BASKETBALL EXPERIENCE. It is with this intention its founder Roel van de Graaf and his long list of volunteers hope to offer the Dutch basketball community some days of great fun! And inspiration!
