The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated De Groene (7-1) in Groningen on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Orca's Urk (7-1) 70-69. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of De Groene. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 6-1 record before this meeting. Newly promoted Orca's Urk maintains first position with 7-1 record, which they share with defeated De Groene. Orca's Urk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. De Groene will play on the road against Red Giants in Meppel and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Another interesting game for Binnenland (4-4) which hosted in Barendrecht against one of their biggest challengers Leiden 2 (5-4). Seventh ranked Binnenland crushed visitors 110-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leiden 2. Binnenland moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Leiden 2 at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Binnenland will play against MSV/Zeemacht (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Leiden 2 will play against Rotterdam 2 (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked MSV/Zeemacht managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time newly promoted MSV/Zeemacht edged eighth-ranked Red Giants in Meppel 94-92. And what about a second win in a row after ...six consecutive loses. MSV/Zeemacht (2-6) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with UBALL. Loser Red Giants dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. MSV/Zeemacht will meet at home higher ranked Binnenland (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Red Giants will play against the league's second-placed De Groene and will have a slim chance for a victory.
The game in Rotterdam supposed to be also worth to mention about. 5th ranked De Hoppers (4-4) played at the court of sixth ranked Rotterdam 2 (4-4). Rotterdam 2 did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 77-57. Rotterdam 2 maintains sixth position with 4-4 record, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated De Hoppers. Rotterdam 2's next round opponent will be higher ranked Leiden 2 (#5) on the road and it may be quite challenging game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: UBALL was beaten by BC Apollo 2 on the road 77-68. Punch lost to Cangeroes on its own court 61-71. Almere P. unfortunately lost to Almonte in Eindhoven 58-74.

BC Apollo 2 - UBALL 77-68

No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked BC Apollo 2 (4-4) beat at home 13th ranked UBALL (2-6) 77-68. BC Apollo 2 moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. UBALL at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. BC Apollo 2's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Almere P. Punch - Cangeroes 61-71

Very expected game when 11th ranked Punch (3-6) lost to second ranked Cangeroes (7-2) in Delft 61-71. Cangeroes have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Despite that victory Cangeroes went down to third position due to points difference. Punch at the other side keeps the eleventh place with six games lost. Cangeroes' next round opponent will be Almonte (#4) in Eindhoven. Punch will play on the road against De Hoppers (#9) in Hoom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Almonte (5-3) won against bottom-ranked Almere P. (1-7) in Eindhoven 74-58. Almonte have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Almere P. lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Almonte's next round opponent will be higher ranked Cangeroes (#3) in Utrecht and it may be the game of the week. Almere P. will play against BC Apollo 2 (#6).
