On December 30 Canarias Basketball Academy headcoach Rob Orellana (USA) and FIBA Expert Marijan Novovic (Serbia) are in charge of the coach clinic during the Rinus de Jong Invitational, the Men's Under20-tournament in Den Bosch, the Netherlands with its very strong field of competitors. Participating teams are amongst others Zalgiris Kaunas (Lit), OKK Belgrade (Ser), Basketball Academy Riga (Lat) and Canarias Basketball Academy (Spa).

Orellana is meanwhile a big name in the world of international basketball. As the owner and head education of his Academy on the Isle of Gran Canaria (Spain) he already brought 42 players to Division One-colleges in the USA. His program is based on an iron discipline, hard work, physical and athletic power and great individual skills.
He started his career as a coach at the University of Las Vegas (UNLV) and won a national championship with this team. Later on he coached amongst others St. Francis New York and Cal State Fullerton before six years ago he moved to Gran Canaria where he started his Canarias Basketball Academy. Some sixty talents are preparing there a career in NCAA or international basketball.

Marijan Novovic served the famous basketball institute Yugoslavia/Serbia a lot of years as a player, coach, instructor and head of the trainingscenter of the national basketball association. After he ended a long career as a player - thirteen years OKK Belgrade, one year Strombeek (Belgium) - Novivic started a as professional coach in 1975. He served clubteams in Serbia, France, Italy, Slovenia and Bosnia Herzegovina and was national coach of Tunesia and North Korea (U22). After being appointed as a FIBA Expert the international basketball federation sent him to a lot of - mostly quite exotic - countries in the world to teach basketball. Meanwhile he wrote three international standard books about coaching.
From 1995 till 2000 Novovic worked for the Serbian basketball association as a special advisor for development and advancement of coaches' work and as head of the national trainigscenter. Since 2004 he is member of the coaching staff of OKK Belgrade.
