Prom.Divisie Round 11: Almonte beats Leiden 2 by two after a very close game - Dec 10, 2012

The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.
The most exciting game of round 11 in the Prom.Divisie took place in Leiden. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Leiden 2 (5-6) to fifth ranked Almonte (6-4) 75-73 on Sunday evening. Almonte moved-up to fourth place, which they share with De Hoppers. Leiden 2 lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Rotterdam 2 and MSV/Zeemacht. Almonte is looking forward to face MSV/Zeemacht (#7) at home in the next round. Leiden 2 will play against BC Apollo 2 in Amsterdam and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series. An interesting game for Orca's Urk (10-1) which played road game in Utrecht against 3rd placed Cangeroes (8-3). First ranked Orca's Urk had an easy win 90-69. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Cangeroes. Orca's Urk have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Newly promoted Orca's Urk maintains first place with 10-1 record. Cangeroes at the other side keep the third position with three games lost. Orca's Urk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cangeroes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Utrecht to the arena UBALL. Bottom-ranked UBALL managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of four consecutive loses on Saturday night. This time newly promoted UBALL won against thirteenth-ranked Almere P. 86-71. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 15-point difference suggests that UBALL is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. UBALL (3-8) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Punch. Almere P. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. UBALL's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Utrecht Cangeroes. A very interesting game took place in Zeemacht. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Rotterdam 2 and Leiden 2. Punch lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. MSV/Zeemacht's next round opponent will be higher ranked Almonte (#4) in Eindhoven and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Punch will play at home against Red Giants (#6) in Meppel. Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Rotterdam 2 (5-6) and Red Giants (5-5), which took place in Meppel. Higher ranked Rotterdam 2 lost to tenth ranked Red Giants in a road game 66-81 on Saturday. Red Giants moved-up to sixth place. Loser Rotterdam 2 dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Red Giants will face Punch (#13) in Delft in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rotterdam 2 will play at home against Binnenland (#10) in Barendrecht.

Leiden swept the Finals 4-0 against Leeuwarden and won 2012/2013 Play-offs. The second team of the Regular Season posted a 65:59 win in Game 4 to become the Champions of the country.
Leeuwarden had nothing to lose in the game and started with 14-11 lead. Leiden however replied with a 21-16 burst in the second frame and added 12-11 rally in the third period. They also won the last quarter 21-20 and sealed a 2012/2013 title [read more]

Leeuwarden's coach Erik Braal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
