Talented Laura Cornelius (173-PG-96) had a great game in the last round for CTO and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. The 16-year old playmaker had the game-high 28 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for CTO in her team's victory, helping them to beat Lekdetec.nl (#6, 2-7) 78-70. Thanks to this victory CTO moved-up to the 4th position in the Dutch Eredivisie. CTO is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-5 record. It's Cornelius' second year at CTO and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Cornelius has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (8th best: 12.4ppg) and assists (5th best: 3.8apg).
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old guard Corinne Manuputty (173-G-85) of Grasshoppers. Manuputty impressed basketball fans with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course she lead Grasshoppers to another comfortable win 86-72 over slightly lower-ranked Den Helder (#5, 3-6) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Grasshoppers to move up to 3rd position in the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-5 record. Manuputty is well-known by Grasshoppers fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was international forward Jill Bettonvil (188-F-92) of Lekdetec.nl (#6). Bettonvil scored 15 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Bettonvil's great performance Lekdetec.nl lost 70-78 to slightly higher-ranked CTO (#4, 4-5). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Lekdetec.nl can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-7 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Bettonvil she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Bettonvil has individually a great season in Holland. After only 9 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.2rpg (6th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Maaike Klein (177-G-90) of Den Helder - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Marlous Nieuwveen (196-C-80) of Grasshoppers - 8 points and 9 rebounds 6. Loyce Bettonvil (185-F-93) of CTO - 13 points and 11 rebounds 7. Emese Hof (190-C-96) of CTO - 16 points and 6 rebounds 8. Ingrid Van der Plas (178-F/C-91) of Grasshoppers - 13 points and 7 rebounds 9. Natalie Van Den Adel (185-G-90) of Grasshoppers - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Tamlyn De Groot (186-C-91) of Den Helder - 6 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
