Eredivisie is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 17 rounds left.

The most exciting game of round 17 in the Eredivisie took place in Den Helder. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Den Helder K. (10-9) to fourth ranked M.Magixx (12-7) 84-82 on Saturday evening. M.Magixx outrebounded Den Helder K. 47-34 including 36 on the defensive glass. 28 personal fouls committed by Den Helder K. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international power forward Nick Oudendag (210-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Kyle Spain (196-87, college: San Diego St.) contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Mark Hill (180-87, college: CS Northridge, agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for Den Helder K.M.Magixx moved-up to third place, which they share with Groningen. Den Helder K. at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. M.Magixx is looking forward to face league's leader Den Bosch at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Den Helder K. will play against Leeuwarden (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Zwolle. Seventh ranked Zwolle (10-10) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Groningen (12-7) 89-86 on Sunday evening. American guard Zack Novak (193-90, college: Michigan, agency: Priority Sports) stepped up and scored 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Tanner Smith chipped in 25 points and 5 steals. American forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Groningen's coach Ivica Skelin rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zwolle maintains seventh place with 10-10 record. Groningen at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with M.Magixx. Zwolle will play against Weert (#8) at home in the next round. Groningen will play against Amsterdam (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Leiden's coach Toon Van Helfteren felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leiden maintains second place with 15-4 record having just three points less than leader Den Bosch. Loser Amsterdam keeps the ninth position with 17 games lost. Leiden will face bottom-ranked Rotterdam (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Amsterdam will play against Groningen in Groningen.

In the last game of round 17 bottom-ranked Rotterdam was smashed by Leeuwarden on the road 103-80.
The most impressive performance of 17th round was 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Samme Givens of Leeuwarden.


Leeuwarden - Rotterdam 103-80

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Leeuwarden (11-8) crushed at home bottom-ranked Rotterdam (1-18) 103-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 17-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 103-80. Leeuwarden dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Rotterdam's 44. They outrebounded Rotterdam 39-18 including a 24-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Leeuwarden looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Rotterdam's players. American forward Samme Givens (195, college: Drexel) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international forward Craig Osaikhwuwuomwan (211-90) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Leeuwarden players scored in double figures. American power forward Cameron Echols (203-81, college: Ball St., agency: R.H.Consultancy) answered with 28 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Anthony Miles (182-89, college: Lamar) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Rotterdam. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leeuwarden maintains fifth place with 11-8 record. Rotterdam lost seventeenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Leeuwarden will face Den Helder K. (#6) on the road in the next round. Rotterdam will play against the league's second-placed Leiden (#2).

Important game to mention about took place in Zwolle. Seventh ranked Zwolle (10-10) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Groningen (12-7) 89-86 on Sunday evening. Zwolle made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Groningen turnovers. Strangely Groningen outrebounded Zwolle 43-24 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Zack Novak (193-90, college: Michigan, agency: Priority Sports) stepped up and scored 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Tanner Smith (195-90, college: Clemson) chipped in 25 points and 5 steals.
