An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Nijmegen. Third ranked Groningen faced 4th placed M.Magixx. Guests from Groningen (15-7) defeated host M.Magixx (12-9) 81-68. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 42-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Groningen dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to M.Magixx's 18. They outrebounded M.Magixx 41-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Groningen looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) fired 17 points for the winners. The former international center Michael Kingma (208-79, agency: R.H.Consultancy) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds. Groningen's coach Ivica Skelin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ghanian-American guard Kwadzo Ahelegbe (187-88, college: N.Iowa) produced 12 points and 6 assists for lost side. Groningen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 15-7 record having just two points less than leader Den Bosch. M.Magixx at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Groningen are looking forward to face Weert (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. M.Magixx will play against Rotterdam (#10) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
The game in Den Helder was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Groningen (15-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Den Helder K. (11-11). Groningen defeated Den Helder K. 87-72. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Nate Rohnert contributed with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. American-Gambian forward Ousman Krubally (198-88, college: Georgia St., agency: Court Side) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds for Den Helder K.Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The game in Leeuwarden supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Leiden (17-4) played at the court of 5th ranked Leeuwarden (11-10). Leiden smashed Leeuwarden 93-72. It was an exceptional evening for Worthy de Jong who led the winners and scored 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Leeuwarden's coach Erik Braal gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Leiden have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-4 record behind leader Den Bosch. Leeuwarden at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Leiden's next round opponent will be league's leader Den Bosch at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leeuwarden will play against Zwolle (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Den Helder K. - Groningen 72-87

The game in Den Helder was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Groningen (15-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Den Helder K. (11-11). Groningen defeated Den Helder K. 87-72. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Den Helder K. was better in third quarter 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-20 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Groningen forced 22 Den Helder K. turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. However their fans expected easier game. Amsterdam was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 22-13 charge of Zwolle, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Zwolle forced 19 Amsterdam turnovers. American guard Tanner Smith (195-90, college: Clemson) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Josh Magette (185-90, college: Al.-Huntsville, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
