Zack Novak
American guard Zack Novak (193-G-90, agency: Priority Sports) put on an amazing game in the last round for Zwolle, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 22-year old player was the main contributor (41 points, seven rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Den Helder K. (#7, 12-13) 83-76. Zwolle maintains the 4th position in Dutch Eredivisie. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Zwolle will need more victories to improve their 14-11 record. In the team's last game Novak had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He turned to be Zwolle's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Michigan star has very solid stats this year. Novak is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.9ppg. The second best player in last round's games was -year old Berend Weijs (208-C) of Amsterdam. Weijs had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Of course he lead Amsterdam to another comfortable win 85-71 over slightly lower-ranked Rotterdam (#10, 2-21) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Amsterdam keeps 9th position. 20 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Amsterdam managed to get this year. Weijs is a newcomer at Amsterdam and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Cameron Echols (203-F/C-81, agency: R.H.Consultancy) of Rotterdam (#10). Echols scored 18 points and grabbed twenty rebounds (!!!). Despite Echols' great performance Rotterdam lost 71-85 to slightly higher-ranked Amsterdam (#9, 4-20). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Rotterdam can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-21 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Echols he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Echols has individually a great season in Holland. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.6rpg (4th best).

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Zorg and Zekerheid Leiden (Eredivisie) landed 29-year old Dutch international shooting guard Worthy de Jong (194-88). It is actually his comeback to Leiden as he has played here before. de Jong played most recently at Boulogne in French ProB. In 34 games he averaged 9.7ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.0apg and 1.8spg last season. Hanoi Buffalos (TBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 22-year old Dutch point guard Vincent Nguyen (178-95). He played last season at New Heroes Basketball Den Bosch in Dutch Eredivisie, but left the team in Jan.'17. But in three games he recorded just 1.0ppg. Nguyen's team made it to the Dutch final. Henk Norel leaves Zaragoza - 2 days ago
30-year old Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) left Tecnyconta Zaragoza (Liga Endesa). Norel has played there for the last five years. In 29 Liga Endesa games in Spain he recorded 10.2ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.1apg. In 2009 Norel was drafted by Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA) in second round (47th overall).
