The most exciting game of round 23 in the Eredivisie took place in Nijmegen. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked M.Magixx (12-13) to eighth ranked Weert (11-14) 87-84 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 25-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Weert made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international center Kenneth van Kempen (208-87, college: Ohio, agency: Court Side) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. The former international forward Sjors Besseling (198-85, agency: Court Side) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. Indian-Canadian forward Robbie Sihota (198-87) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Weert have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 11-14 record. M.Magixx lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Den Helder K.. Weert are looking forward to face Amsterdam (#9) at home in the next round. M.Magixx will play against the league's second-placed Den Bosch and will have a slim chance for a victory.

Defending champion maintains second place with 20-4 record behind leader Leiden. Groningen at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. Den Bosch will play against M.Magixx (#7) in Nijmegen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Groningen will play at home against Rotterdam (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Zwolle. It was a great evening for Michael Schachtner who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Tanner Smith responded with 31 points and 5 rebounds. Leiden have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-5 record. Loser Zwolle keeps the fourth position with 12 games lost. Leiden will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zwolle will play again against the league's leader Leiden (#1) and hope to secure a win.

It was a quality performance for Ross Bekkering who led the winners and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Rotterdam's coach Randy Wiel gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Leiden have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-5 record. Rotterdam lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Leiden's next round opponent will be Zwolle (#4) on the road. Rotterdam will play against Groningen (#3) in Groningen.

In the last game of round 23 Leeuwarden defeated Amsterdam in a road game 85-80.



Groningen - Den Bosch 75-83

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Groningen. Second ranked Den Bosch faced 3rd placed Groningen. Guests from Den Bosch (20-4) defeated host Groningen (16-9) 83-75. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Groningen won third quarter 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Defending champion maintains second place with 20-4 record behind leader Leiden. Groningen at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. Den Bosch will play against M.Magixx (#7) in Nijmegen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Groningen will play at home against Rotterdam (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Leiden - Rotterdam 81-59

Leader Leiden delivered the twentieth first victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked Rotterdam (2-22) 81-59. Rotterdam was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 49-23 second half run of Leiden. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Rotterdam's 16. They outrebounded Rotterdam 40-25 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for Canadian forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Moroccan forward Mohamed Kherrazi (200-90, agency: R.H.Consultancy) accounted for 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. American guard Anthony Miles (182-89, college: Lamar) came up with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Daniel Jones (200-79) added 14 points respectively for Rotterdam in the defeat. Amsterdam - Leeuwarden 80-85

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Amsterdam (4-21) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Leeuwarden (13-12) 85-80. It looked good early as Amsterdam took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Leeuwarden had a 24-17 second period charge getting the lead and Amsterdam was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-85. Leeuwarden dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Amsterdam's 32. They outrebounded Amsterdam 38-27 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Samme Givens (195, college: Drexel) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). Naturalized Moroccan forward Hicham Kherrazi (195-88, agency: R.H.Consultancy) accounted for 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Center Berend Weijs (208, college: Maryland) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Aaron Roye (185-88) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Amsterdam in the defeat.
