Here is the weekly review of the top performing Dutch players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Henk Norel (214-87, currently plays in Spain). He led CAI Zaragoza to a victory against the 15th-ranked Cajasol (7-14) 75-67 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. Norel scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a mere 16 minutes on the court. CAI Zaragoza (12-9) is placed seventh in the ACB. Norel is currently sixth on the league's list of best rebounders with 6.3rpg. He also averaged so far 12.1ppg, 2FGP: 58.3%(112-192) and FT: 56.4% in the 21 games he played so far. Norel is currently a member of the Dutch senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international center Francisco Elson (211-76, college: California, currently plays in Iran). He contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Azad (7-10) 76-61 in a derby game in the Iranian Superleague last Thursday. Elson recorded 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Mahram Tehran (14-3) is placed third in the Superleague. This season Elson averages: 8.8ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 37.5%. He is in the roster of the Dutch senior national team.

   #3. The Dutch player who performed third best last week abroad was former U16 international forward Kevin van Wijk (203-89, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. He could not help the Valparaiso (10-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite van Wijk's good performance the Valparaiso was defeated 84-74 at home by the University of Detroit Mercy. He scored 10 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. van Wijk has relatively good stats this season: 14.1ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.6apg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 51.8%, 3FGP: 43.7% and FT: 87.9%. He played for the Dutch U16 national team eight years ago.

   #4. Center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Portland (4-10) in their last game. Despite van der Mars' very good performance the Portland lost 72-86 on the road to the Brigham Young University. He scored 19 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year van der Mars has relatively solid stats: 14.1ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.6apg and 1.1bpg in the 22 games. He used to play for the Dutch U20 national team back in 2010.

International forward Robin Smeulders (207-87, agency: Court Side, college: Portland, currently plays in EuroChallenge) was not able to secure a victory for EWE Baskets (4-1) in their game against Telekom Baskets (3-2) in the EuroChallenge. He scored 5 points. The first-placed EWE Baskets was defeated 92-88 on their home court in Oldenburg by the second-ranked Telekom Baskets in the group L of EuroChallenge. They ended the series of ten consecutive victories. Smeulders' team will play only one more game in the EuroChallenge Top 16. And now that game is quite important. Smeulders' overall stats this season are: 9.2ppg and 3.9rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Dutch and German. Smeulders plays currently for the Dutch national team.

Power forward Roeland Schaftenaar (211-88, college: Oregon St., currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Lleida Basquet (8-11) 83-68 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Saturday night's game. Schaftenaar scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Leche Rio Breogan Lugo (10-9) is placed fifth in the LEB Gold. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Schaftenaar's first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 6.9ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.8apg. Schaftenaar is a former international player as he played for the Dutch senior team three years ago.

Former international center Robert Krabbendam (213-86, also represented by Court Side, college: Virginia Tech, currently plays in Cyprus) couldn't help Apollon (9-12) in their game against ENAD (6-15) in the Cypriot Division A. He scored 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 25 minutes. Apollon lost 82-86 on their home court in Limassol to the one of league's weakest teams (#7) ENAD. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Krabbendam's overall stats are: 5.1ppg and 3.5rpg in the 11 games. He used to play for the Dutch national team three years ago.

   #8. Center Olaf Schaftenaar (206-93, is currently at the American university) couldn't help the Oregon St. (3-10) in their game against the Stanford University (6-7) in the NCAA. Schaftenaar recorded 7 points. The Oregon St. was defeated 82-72 on their home court in Corvallis, OR by the Stanford University. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. Schaftenaar's total stats this season are: 5.1ppg and 3.5rpg. He used to play for the Dutch U18 national team back in 2011.

U18 international center Jito Kok (206-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the one of league's weakest teams San Diego (6-7) in their game against the Santa Clara University (7-6) in the NCAA. Kok cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 1 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 28 minutes. The San Diego lost 52-61 in Santa Clara, CA to the Santa Clara University. It was San Diego's third consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. This year Kok's total stats are: 5.1ppg and 3.5rpg in the 11 games. He is also in the roster of the Dutch U18 national team.

Point guard Charlon Kloof (190-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams St.Bonaventure (5-7) in their game against the University of Richmond (5-6) in the NCAA. Kloof cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points and had 3 steals. The St.Bonaventure was edged in an overtime 83-80 in Richmond, VA by the University of Richmond. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. Kloof has averaged so far 5.1ppg and 3.5rpg. He is a former U20 international player as three years ago he still played for the Dutch national team.

   #11. Former U20 international forward Kadeem Pantophlet (201-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Duquesne's surprising victory against the Temple University 84-83 in the NCAA on Thursday night. Pantophlet scored 6 points in only 10 minutes. Pantophlet has averaged so far 5.1ppg and 3.5rpg in the 11 games. He used to play for the Dutch U20 national team four years ago.

   #12. U18 international forward Shane Hammink (201-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Louisiana State University in a victory against the Mississippi State University 80-68 in the NCAA last Saturday. He scored only 2 points in 2 minutes on the court. Hammink has averaged so far 5.1ppg and 3.5rpg in the 11 games. He is a naturalized American. Hammink is also in the roster of the Dutch U18 national team. Strangely he has never played in Holland.


The list of other players, who all have Dutch passport but never been selected to any of Dutch national teams:

   #1. Experienced Stanley Ocitti (203-F/C-80, college: Binghamton, currently plays in United Kingdom) led Worcester Wolves to a victory over the closely-ranked London Lions (9-16) 98-91 in the British BBL on Saturday night. Ocitti was MVP of the game. He scored 21 points, had 4 rebounds and made 6 blocks in 41 minutes. Worcester Wolves (14-9) is placed sixth in the BBL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Ocitti's first season with the team. Ocitti belongs to league's best rebounders (ranked #4) and also on the list of best blockers (fifth place). He has very reliable stats this year: 14.1ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.6apg and 1.1bpg in the 22 games he played so far. Ocitti is a naturalized American.

   #2. Kim Tillie (210-PF-88, agency: Priority Sports, college: Utah, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an UCAM Murcia's victory against the fifth-ranked G.Canaria 2014 (13-8) 78-68 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. Tillie scored 9 points. UCAM Murcia (24-6) is placed in the ACB. Tillie's overall stats this season are: 7.5ppg and 3.6rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Dutch and French.

   #3. Devon Van Oostrum (190-G-93, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a Caceres Basket's victory against the fourth-ranked Palencia Baloncesto (12-7) 83-72 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Friday night's game. Van Oostrum scored 15 points and added 4 passes in 24 minutes. Caceres Basket (8-11) is placed ninth in the LEB Gold. It's Van Oostrum's first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 9.3ppg, 2.1rpg and 2.2apg in the 19 games. Van Oostrum is another player who holds two passports: Dutch and British.

   #4. Josh Duinker (210-F/C-89, college: Richmond, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Devon Van Oostrum. But that was another game of his team in Spanish LEB Gold which we would like to mention. Duinker, who plays in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) could not help Caceres Basket (8-11) in their last game. Despite his good performance Caceres Basket lost 70-83 on the road to the higher-ranked (#7) Lleida_Basquet. Duinker was the second best scorer with 13 points. He also added 6 rebounds in a mere 15 minutes. This year Duinker's overall stats are: 7.4ppg and 4.9rpg in the 19 games. He has both Australian and Dutch nationalities.

   #5. Joey van Zegeren McAdam (208-F-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Virginia Tech (2-11) in their game against the Duke University (10-3) in the NCAA. van Zegeren McAdam cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points. The Virginia Tech was crushed 88-56 at home by the Duke University. It was Virginia Tech's ninth consecutive loss in a row. van Zegeren McAdam has averaged so far 5.1ppg and 3.5rpg.

   #6. Daniel Kickert (208-C/F-83, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in Ukraine) was the main contributor in Dnipro's victory against the league outsider BC Kyiv crushing them 84-59 in the Ukrainian Superleague on Sunday night. Kickert was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 11 rebounds. Kickert has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.6ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.5apg. Kickert also holds two passports: Australian and Dutch.

American J.T. Yoho (198-F-93, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) had an amazing evening in the last round for Zwolle and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 11. The 23-year old forward had the game-high 25 points adding nine rebounds for Zwolle in his team's victory, helping them to beat Leeuwarden (#7, 3-8) 87-80. Eredivisie Round 11: Groningen beats Amsterdam in the most crucial game of the week - 4 days ago

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Groningen. First ranked Groningen faced 4th placed Amsterdam. Host Groningen (10-1) smashed guests from Amsterdam (5-6) 91-65. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Amsterdam managed to win second period 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Prom.Divisie Round 9: Lions hand first loss to Grasshoppers - 6 days ago

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Grasshoppers (8-1) in Katwijk on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Lions (7-2) 90-80. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Grasshoppers. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league.
