The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute susprises and upsets.

The most exciting game of round 28 in the Eredivisie took place in Weert. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Weert (12-17) to fifth ranked Zwolle (16-13) 92-90 on Tuesday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 30-21 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Zwolle outrebounded Weert 39-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Zack Novak (193-90, college: Michigan, agency: Priority Sports) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Darryl Webb (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) contributed with 24 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Kenneth van Kempen (208-87, college: Ohio, agency: Court Side) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for Weert. Zwolle moved-up to fourth place. Weert lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 17 games lost. Zwolle are looking forward to face Den Helder K. (#6) on the road in the next round. Weert will play against Amsterdam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between third ranked Groningen (21-9) and 6th ranked Den Helder K. (14-16) in Groningen ended with biggest points difference. Groningen beat guests from Den Helder 63-50. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international guard Rogier Jansen (188-84, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 assists and Jamal Boykin who added 9 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Storm Warren (200-88, college: LSU) responded with 7 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Groningen have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 21-9 record having just one points less than leader Den Bosch. Den Helder K. at the other side keeps the sixth place with 16 games lost. Groningen will play against bottom-ranked Rotterdam (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Den Helder K. will play against Zwolle (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 28 Leeuwarden was beaten by Leiden on the road 70-59.



Leiden - Leeuwarden 70-59

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Leiden (24-6) beat at home 5th ranked Leeuwarden (16-14) 70-59. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Leiden outrebounded Leeuwarden 41-20 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of international Worthy de Jong (194-88, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and international guard Arvin Slagter (191-85, agency: Court Side) who added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Leiden's coach Toon Van Helfteren allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward Samme Givens (195, college: Drexel) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import David Michaels (201-90, college: Whitman, agency: Pro One Sports) scored 14 points and 4 steals. Leiden have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 24-6 record having just -2 point less than leader Den Bosch. Leeuwarden at the other side keeps the fifth place with 14 games lost. Leiden will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leeuwarden will play on the road against the league's leader Den Bosch (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
