Prom.Divisie Round 13: Red Giants beat De Groene by three after a very close game - Jan 22, 2017

The most exciting game of round 13 in the Prom.Divisie took place in Meppel. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked De Groene (6-4) to seventh ranked Red Giants (7-6) 64-61 in the game for the fifth place. Red Giants moved-up to fifth place. De Groene at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Red Giants are looking forward to face higher ranked Lokomotief (#3) in Rijswijk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. De Groene will play at home against De Hoppers and is hoping to win this game.
Prom.Divisie top team - Grasshoppers (11-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked New Stars (5-6) in Katwijk 94-56. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of New Stars. Grasshoppers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Newly promoted New Stars keep the eighth position with six games lost. Grasshoppers will play against Punch (#11) in Delft in the next round and are hoping to win another game. New Stars will play at home against CobraNova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 12th consecutive match to eleventh ranked Punch (2-10) 63-53 on Saturday evening. Punch maintains eleventh place with 2-10 record. Loser De Hoppers still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Punch will meet at home league's leader Grasshoppers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. De Hoppers will play against De Groene (#6) in Groningen and hope to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 13 Leiden 2 was beaten by Lions on the road 72-66. CobraNova lost to Groningen on its own court 70-79.

Red Giants - De Groene 64-61

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Lions (10-3) beat 6th ranked Leiden 2 (6-7) in Landsmeer 72-66. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Lions maintains second place with 10-3 record behind leader Grasshoppers. Leiden 2 at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Lions' next round opponent will be Black Eagles (#10) in Rosmalen and are hoping to win another game. Leiden 2 will play on the road against Groningen and hope to win that game.
